A type or shadow is an imperfect earthly “resemblance” of a perfect heavenly “substance,” which can only be perceived by faith (Heb 11:1). You are a type or shadow of Jesus Christ. The cloud is in heaven, its shadow is on earth. Which is real?

SISERA, CAPTAIN OF THE HOST

(Judg 4:1-3)  And the children of Israel again did evil in the sight of the LORD, when Ehud [united] was dead. And the LORD sold them into the hand of Jabin [intelligent, one who is perceptive, (type of Satan)] king of Canaan [merchant, trader, trafficker (perverted works - Gomorrah)], that reigned in Hazor [enclosure, village surrounded with walls (fortress)]; the captain of whose host was Sisera [type of the antichrist], which dwelt in Harosheth [mechanical work: carving, cutting /// worker (industrial fabricator)] of the Gentiles [foreign nation: heathens (the unsaved)]. And the children of Israel cried unto the LORD: for he [Sisera] had nine hundred chariots of iron [i.e. wheels - a natural (sin) counterfeit of the nine spiritual gifts of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor 12:8-10)]; and twenty years he mightily oppressed [pressed, i.e. distressed:--afflicted, crushed, forced, thrust self (mightily)] the children of Israel.

DEBORAH

NO HEAD: NO MAN IN COMMAND = NO COVERING = NO PEACE

(Judg 4:4,5)  And Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, she judged Israel at that time [during that twenty year period]. And she dwelt under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah [a height (as a seat of idolatry): high place] and Bethel [house of God] in mount Ephraim [double fruit /// another name for Bethlehem]: and the children of Israel came up to her for judgment [i.e. between idolatry and godliness].

1.       Deborah = Heb: (in the sense of orderly motion); the bee (from its systematic instincts):--bee.

2.       prophetess = Heb: a prophetess or inspired woman; by impl. a poetess; by association a prophet's wife.

3.       Lapidoth = Heb: to shine; a flambeau, lamp or flame:--(fire-) brand, (burning) lamp, lightning, torch.

4.       the covering over a prophetess = Miriam by Aaron – brother: Ex 15:20; Deborah by Lapidoth –husband: Judg 4:4; Huldah by Shallum – husband: 2 Kings 22:14; 2 Chr 34:22); Noahiah by none – false prophetess: Neh 6:14); Anna by Phanuel – father: Luke 2:36; Jezebel by none – false prophetess: Rev 2:20).

BARAK

(Judg 4:6,7)  And she sent and called Barak the son of Abinoam out of Kedeshnaphtali, and said unto him [prophesying – inspired speaking – a type of the Holy Spirit], Hath not the LORD God of Israel commanded, saying, Go and draw toward mount Tabor [broken region], and take with thee ten thousand men of the children of Naphtali [my wrestling] and of the children of Zebulun [habitation /// dwelling]? And I will draw unto thee to the river Kishon [winding /// to set a trap: lay a snare] Sisera [the antichrist], the captain of Jabin's army, with his chariots and his multitude; and I will deliver him into thine hand [power].

1.       Barak = Heb: lightning; a gleam; concr. a flashing sword: bright, glitter (-ing, sword), lightning.

2.       (Mat 24:26,27)  Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not. For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

3.       Abi-noam = Heb: father & of pleasantness (i.e. gracious) /// agreeableness, delight, suitableness, splendor or grace:--beauty, pleasant (-ness).

4.       Kedeshnaphtali = Heb: a sanctum [Dict: a sacred or holy place] /// to be (make, pronounce or observe as) clean (ceremonially or morally):--appoint, bid, consecrate, dedicate, hallow, (be, keep) holy (-er, place), keep, prepare, proclaim, purify, sanctify (-ied one, self), X wholly.

(Judg 4:8,9)  And Barak [a type of Jesus Christ] said unto her [Deborah: a type of the Holy Spirit], If thou wilt go with me, then I will go: but if thou wilt not go with me, then I will not go. And she said [prophesying – inspired speaking], I will surely go with thee: notwithstanding the journey that thou takest shall not be for thine honour [how true]; for the LORD shall sell Sisera [the antichrist] into the hand [power] of a woman [the future bride of Christ]. And Deborah arose, and went with Barak to Kedesh [the sanctum – a type of Heaven].

1.       (Isa 53:3)  He is despised and rejected of men [nailed on the cross]; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

2.       (Heb 11:32)  And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:

(Judg 4:10)  And Barak called [come (out) with such a company] Zebulun and Naphtali [type of the 144,000 – firstfruits company; sixth seal Rev 6&7] to Kedesh [a type of Heaven]; and he went up [ascended] with ten thousand men at his feet [coming; foot (stool)]: and Deborah went up [ascended] with him.

(Judg 4:11-14)  Now Heber [associate] the Kenite [a Gentile tribe], which was of the children of Hobab the father in law of Moses, had severed himself [separated himself] from the Kenites [metalsmiths (fabricators of the chariots of iron?)], and pitched his tent unto the plain of Zaanaim [wanderings (a type of the undecided – wandering between the Kenites and Kadesh)], which is by Kedesh [type of Heaven]. And they showed [told] Sisera that Barak the son of Abinoam was gone up to mount Tabor [brokenness]. And Sisera [in much pride] gathered together all his chariots, even nine hundred chariots of iron, and all the people that were with him, from Harosheth [mechanical work: carving, cutting /// worker] of the Gentiles [foreign nation: heathens (the unsaved)] unto the river of [i.e. waters of] Kishon [winding /// to set a trap: lay a snare]. And Deborah said unto Barak, Up; for this is the day in which the LORD hath delivered Sisera [the antichrist] into thine hand: is not the LORD gone out before thee? So Barak went down [descended] from mount Tabor [brokenness], and ten thousand men after him.

1.       (1 Ki 18:20,21)  So Ahab sent unto all the children of Israel, and gathered the prophets together unto mount Carmel. And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.

2.       (Jude 1:14,15)  And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.

(Judg 4:15,16)  And the LORD discomfited [destroyed] Sisera [the antichrist], and all his chariots, and all his host, with the edge of the sword before Barak [type of Jesus Christ]; so that Sisera lighted down off his chariot, and fled away on his feet. But Barak pursued after the chariots, and after the host, unto Harosheth [mechanical work: carving, cutting /// worker] of the Gentiles [unsaved]: and all the host of Sisera fell upon the edge of the sword; and there was not a man left.

1.       (Rev 19:11-16)  And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

Amen
