(Judg 6:1)  And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD: and the LORD delivered them into the hand of Midian seven years [biblical number signifying completion].

(Luke 6:43-45)  For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes. A good man [i.e. saved] out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man [i.e. unsaved] out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

(Mat 7:15-18)  Beware of false prophets [(un-)inspired speakers], which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

(Deu 4:23-25)  Take heed unto yourselves, lest ye forget the covenant of the LORD your God, which he made with you, and make you a graven image [an idol: to carve, whether wood or stone (or print): grave, hew], or the likeness [image, likeness, similitude] of any thing, which the LORD thy God hath forbidden thee. For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire [first biblical mention], even a jealous God. When thou shalt beget children, and children's children, and ye shall have remained long in the land, and shall corrupt yourselves [to decay, ruin: destroy, mar, spill, X utterly, waste], and make a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, and shall do evil in the sight of the LORD thy God, to provoke him to anger:

1.       grave = Dict: 1. to incise or engrave. 2. to impress deeply: graven on the mind.

2.       (Exo 20:1-4)  And God spake all these words, saying, I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. [1] Thou shalt have no other gods before me. [2] Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:

3.       (Deu 4:1,2)  Now therefore hearken, O Israel, unto the statutes and unto the judgments, which I teach you, for to do them, that ye may live, and go in and possess the land which the LORD God of your fathers giveth you. Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.

4.       (Deu 12:32)  What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.

5.       (Rev 22:18-21)  For I testify unto every man that heareth the words [logos] of the prophecy [inspired speaking] of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

THE FINAL TEST OF SPIRITUAL DISCERNMENT IS UPON US

(Judg 7:5-8)  So he brought down the people unto the water [of separation: Eph 5:26: the word of God]: and the LORD said unto Gideon, Every one that lappeth of the water with his tongue, as a dog lappeth, him shalt thou set by himself; likewise every one that boweth down upon his knees to drink. And the number of them that lapped, putting their hand to their mouth, were three hundred men: but all the rest of the people [9,700 saved Christians] bowed down upon their knees to drink water [thereby taking their eyes (and attention) off the 135,000 enemy Midianite warriors directly across the water]. And the LORD said unto Gideon, By the three hundred men [shepherds, pastors, officers – which have eyes and see] that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into thine hand: and let all the other people [sheep, congregation, enlisted personnel – “which have eyes to see, and see not” Ezek 12:2] go every man unto his place [i.e. his tent]. So the people [the 300] took victuals [food] in their hand, and their trumpets: and he sent all the rest of Israel every man unto his tent, and retained those three hundred men: and the host of Midian was beneath him in the valley.

1.       (1 Pet 5:8)  Be sober, be vigilant [to keep awake, watch:, watchful]; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion [Goliath, Gibson (speaking)], walketh about [now in virtually every movie theater in the country, and soon worldwide on international satellite], seeking whom he may devour

Amen
