(1 Sam 17:15-18)  But David went and returned from Saul to feed his father's sheep at Bethlehem [house of bread]. And the Philistine [Goliath] drew near morning and evening, and presented himself [for their acceptance] forty days [the number of testing, i.e. forty years “in the church in the wilderness” Acts 7:38]. And Jesse said unto David his son, Take now for thy brethren an ephah of this parched corn, and these ten loaves, and run to the camp to thy brethren; And carry these ten cheeses unto the captain of their thousand, and look how thy brethren fare, and take their pledge.

Goliath (“the wind boisterous” Mat 14:30) presented himself (religious connotations) to the Israelites (Saul’s: our church in apostasy) for forty days (symbol of testing) for their acceptance. By doing so, Goliath was occupying (“Occupy till I come” Luke 19:13) their focus and attention in place of God. Goliath was presenting himself as a living substitute (but an empty seed pod) for the dead sacrificial Lamb of God. GOLIATH WAS, HAS BECOME, IS, THE CENTER OF ATTENTION OF THE CHURCH. However, while this period of testing was occurring, the Word of God (Jesus Christ, typified by David), who is the seed of God, was absent from the Israelites (church in apostasy), and far away in Bethlehem, obediently feeding his Father’s sheep (John 21:15-17). Please note that during this time of testing, Saul and the Israelites were not listening to nor eating the Word of God (the seed of life) at all, for David was not there among them, He was in Bethlehem (house of bread). But King Saul and the Israelites (church) were walking by sight, listening to, watching, interacting with, and altogether focusing and feeding upon that pig Goliath (typifying the world, personified by television), i.e. “the husks [empty seed pods] that the [Philistine] swine did eat.”

1.       (Luke 19:12-27)  He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return. And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come [to busy oneself with, i.e. to trade /// a deed: business, matter, thing, work /// practice, i.e. to perform repeatedly or habitually]. But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us. And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money [sliver (symbol of redemption, salvation)], that he might know how much every man had gained by trading. Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds. And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities. And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds. And he said likewise to him, Be thou also over five cities. And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin [towel or handkerchief (for wiping the perspiration from the face, or binding the face of a corpse)]: For I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that thou layedst not down, and reapest that thou didst not sow. And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow: Wherefore then gavest not thou my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with usury? And he said unto them that stood by, Take from him the pound [i.e. stony ground], and give it to him that hath ten pounds. (And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds.) For I say unto you, That unto every one which hath [understanding of the word of God: “and understandeth it” Mat 13:23] shall be given; and from him that hath not [understanding of the word of God: “understandeth it not” Mat 13:19], even that [understanding] he hath shall be taken away from him [i.e. stony ground]. But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.

2.       (Luke 15:11-16)  And he said, A certain man had two sons [Jew and Christian]: And the younger of them [Christian: “which would not that I would reign over them” Luke 19:27] said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living [his life (Old Testament to Jew and New Testament to Christian: Law and Grace)]. And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living [“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Heb 11:1]. And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want. And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks [empty seed pods] that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.

3.       (Amos 8:11,12)  Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land [“there arose a mighty famine in that land” Luke 15:14], not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.

4.       (2 Th 2:6-12)  And now ye know what withholdeth [is restraining (??)] that he might be revealed in his time. For the mystery of iniquity [lawlessness] doth already work: only he who now letteth [restrains] will let [restrain], until he [He] be taken out of the way [“they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it” Amos 8:12]. And then shall that Wicked be revealed [Goliath: the head of the body of Satanically inspired 666 men; six cubits in height, six pieces of armor, six hundred shekels of iron], whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them [Who?? the unsaved “lukewarm” Israelites (professing Christians) whom Jesus Christ shall “spue” out of His mouth, and the unsaved “cold” Philistines] strong delusion, that they should believe a lie [personified by Goliath]: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

5.       (Mat 6:24)  No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon [(wealth, personified); i.e. avarice (deified)].

6.       mammon = the world personified, Goliath symbolized, Satan.

7.       Ye cannot serve God and the world.

8.       Ye cannot serve God and Goliath.

9.       Ye cannot serve God and Satan.

Amen
