THE THOUSAND YEAR MILLENNIUM

(Rev 20:1-3)  And I saw an angel [Jesus Christ: Rev 1:18] come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit [Gk: the abyss] and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

  1. (Rev 1:17,18)  And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

(Rev 20:4-6)  And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded [died] for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived [were resurrected] and reigned with Christ a thousand years. But the rest [Gk: the remaining] of the dead [i.e., the unsaved] lived not again until the thousand years were finished [at the advent of the second resurrection which is the “second death” v.6]. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death [i.e., the second resurrection of the dead] hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign [as “kings and priests” Rev 1:6; 5:10 over the unsaved] with him a thousand years.

(Rev 20:7-10)  And when the thousand years are expired [Gk: completed], Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, And shall go out to deceive the [unsaved] nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. And they went up on the breadth [Gk: width] of the earth, and compassed [Gk: encircled, surrounded] the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city [i.e., Jerusalem]: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them [typified by 1 Kings 18:30-38]. And the devil that deceived them [with “strong delusion” 2 Thes 2:11] was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast [the ungodly person having the most power and authority in the world, the Antichrist: Rev 13:1] and the false prophet [the secular news media: “the man that bare the shield” 1 Sam 17:7, 41; and Rev 13:11] are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

  1. (1 Kings 18:38)  Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.
  2. (Mat 25:41)  Then shall he [Jesus] say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels [i.e., fallen angels]:
    1. (Rev 12:9)  And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out [of “heaven” Rev 12:8] into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
  3. (Rev 19:9,10)  And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God. And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
  4. (Rev 22:8,9)  And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things. Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book [i.e., “have the testimony of Jesus” Rev 19:10]: worship God.

THE BOOK OF LIFE

(Rev 20:11-15)  And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the [remaining (unsaved)] dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

  1. Commentary: “the books were opened” = “the [remaining (unsaved)] dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
  2. Commentary: “and another book was opened, which is the book of life” “and whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
  3. (Phip 4:3)  And I intreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life.
  4. (Rev 3:5)  He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
  5. (Rev 13:8)  And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
  6. (Rev 17:8)  The beast [the Antichrist] that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
  7. (Rev 20:12)  And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
  8. (Rev 20:15)  And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
  9. (Rev 21:27)  And there shall in no wise enter into it [new, holy Jerusalem] any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.
  10. (Rev 22:19)  And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

NEW HOLY JERUSALEM IS A 1500 MILES LONG, 1500 MILES WIDE, 1500 MILES HIGH CUBE

(Rev 21:15-17)  And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city [“new Jerusalem” v.2; “holy Jerusalem” v.10], and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof. And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs [x 1/8 mile = 1500 miles]. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal [i.e, a cube, as is the Most Holy Place in the Tabernacle, and in the Temple]. And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel.

  1. Amplified Bible: “And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits (about seventy-two yards) by a man’s measure [of a cubit from his elbow to his third finger tip] which is [the measure] of the angel.” [thus making the “wall” about 216 feet or two thirds of a football field thick]

(Rev 21:18-27)  And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass. And the [twelve] foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald; The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst. And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass. And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it. And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there. And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it. And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.

Amen
