The depth of our revelations depends upon the correctness of our doctrine.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called Sons of God. (Matthew 5:9)
PEACE in Hebrew is Shalom- it is more than a state of mind. It is both a reality and hope.
We see Shalom in both the title of God and Jesus.
1. Yahweh-Shalom (Judges 6:24)
2. Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6)
True Shalom can only come from a relationship with our Father God. (Romans 5:1-3, 8-10)
James 3:14-18:
K.J.V.
14 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.
15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.
16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then
peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good
fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.
The Amplified Bible Version:
James 3:14-18:
14 But if you
have bitter jealousy (envy) and contention (rivalry, selfish ambition)
in your hearts, do not pride yourselves on it and thus be in defiance
of and false to the Truth.
15 This [superficial] wisdom is not such as comes down from above,
but is earthly, unspiritual (animal), even devilish (demoniacal).
16 For wherever there is jealousy (envy) and contention (rivalry
and selfish ambition), there will also be confusion (unrest,
disharmony, rebellion) and all sorts of evil and vile
practices.
17 But the wisdom from above is first of all pure (undefiled);
then it is peace-loving, courteous (considerate, gentle). [It is
willing to] yield to reason, full of compassion and good fruits; it is
wholehearted and straightforward,
impartial and unfeigned (free from doubts, wavering, and
insincerity).
18 And the harvest of righteousness (of conformity to God’s will
in thought and deed) is [the fruit of the seed] sown in peace by those
who work for andmake peace [in themselves and in others, that
peace which means concord, agreement, and harmony between individuals,
with undisturbedness, in a peaceful mind free from fears and agitating
passions and moral conflicts].
AN EXPLANATION OF Peacemaking
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. Matthew 5:9
1. Blessed in Greek is Makarios (mak-ar-ee-os): To be supremely blessed, fortunately happy, well off.
2. Only once in the entire Bible do we find the word “peacemaker”:
Greek-eirenopoios (i-ray-nop-oy-os): To be a pacificator, is to be a
believer in the act or process of restoring peace, tranquility and
reduce the person or situation into a state of submission.
3. It is not sympathy; feeling sorry for another person hurt, but
sympathy can slip into pity. Pity is dehumanizing and strips away the
rich reality of the human experience and leaves only difficulty and
disability.
4. It is not empathy; walking in another’s shoes to experience part of
anther’s pain. Empathy is a vicarious experience even when you did not
experience the event.
5. It is compassion; lone in action. This true compassion, that reaches
out to all people. Once you have seen real poverty and gotten your feet
wet by doing something about it you won’t ever be the same again. “If
you have a chance to accomplish something that will make things better
for people coming behind you, and you don’t do that, you are wasting
your time on this earth.”-Roberto Clamenti
6. Never be afraid to do what’s right, especially if the well-being of
a person is a stake. “Society’s punishments are small compared to the
wounds we inflict on your soul when we look the other way.”- Rev.
M.L.King Jr.
7. Peacemaking is an act of trust, working for Adonai’s vision. True peacemakers risk their lives to stop violence.
