[17 works of the flesh] 1. (Gal 5:19-21 NIV) The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. THE MANIFESTATION OF THE SPIRIT (THE WAY OF THE CROSS – OUR PRESENT) (Deu 8:1-3) All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers. And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee [Heb: abase, afflict, chasten, submit (self)], and to prove thee [Heb: test], to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no. And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna [a type and shadow of the manifestation of the Spirit (1 Cor 12:7-11)], which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live. 1. (1 Cor 12:7-11) But the manifestation of the Spirit [the fulfillment of the Old Testament “manna”] is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. [9 manifestations of the Spirit] THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT (THE END – OUR FUTURE) (Gal 5:22,23) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering [patience], gentleness [kindness], goodness [virtue or beneficence], faith [belief], Meekness [humility], temperance [self-control]: against such there is no law. [9 fruits of the Spirit] 1. (Gal 5:22,23 NIV) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. THE DOOR (Exo 36:37,38) And he made an hanging for the tabernacle door of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen, of needlework; And the five pillars [Torah, the Pentateuch] of it with their hooks: and he overlaid their chapiters and their fillets with gold: but their five sockets were of brass [the metal of sin and judgment]. THE VEIL (Exo 36:35,36) And he made a veil of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen: with cherubims made he it of cunning work. And he made thereunto four pillars [the four Gospels] of shittim wood, and overlaid them with gold: their hooks were of gold; and he cast for them four sockets of silver [the metal of redemption]. Commentary: How many pillars are there in the Tabernacle? (Rev 3:12) Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.
