The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made [Gk: assembled] by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life [eternal]; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. 1. comprehended = Gk: to take eagerly, i.e. seize, possess, etc. (lit. or fig.):--apprehend, attain, come upon, comprehend, find, obtain, perceive, (over-) take. 2. (1 Pet 2:9) But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: (John 1:14) And the Word [Gk: logos] [of God, the Bible] was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. 1. (Luke 8:11) Now the parable is this: The seed is the word [Gk: logos] of God [i.e., God’s definition of logos. What comes out of the seed is the rhema word, i.e., revelations]. (John 12:46-48) I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness. And if any man hear my words [Gk: rhema], and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words [Gk: rhema] [revelations] [Grace], hath one that judgeth him: the word [Gk: logos] [Law] that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. 1. (Rom 10:17) So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word [Gk: rhema] of God. 2. Commentary: Jesus Christ was both the logos and the rhema word. His body was the logos word, “The seed,” and the fruit that came out of His mouth was the rhema word. (John 3:3) Jesus answered and said unto him [Nicodemus], Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God [“he cannot enter into the kingdom of God” John 3:5]. (Rom 10:9,10) That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved [born-again]. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation [i.e., you are a seed, and this fruit must come out of your mouth].
