He was originally a slave owned and controlled by Lucifer-Satan, directed and led by the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. But I have been made a New Man, a man of love, now a servant, and upon my demise a friend (John 15:15), redeemed and owned by Jesus-Christ, directed and led by the fruit of the tree of life. However, I am still strongly influenced by the Old Man because he has not yet entirely been put away, he has not yet entirely died on the cross of my salvation. Hence, I am being slowly torn asunder by sharp nails of anguish, a living picture of the conflicted existence of saved mortality portrayed in the Courtyard of the Tabernacle. My soul (mind, will, and emotions) has not yet been completely converted (“transformed” Rom 12:2) into the mind of Christ; my soul has not yet been wholly restored into spirit (“the spirit shall return unto God who gave it” Eccl 12:7). Alas, this despicable soul, this thing in me, in dying still lives, daily expressing vile desires, urging me contrary to my spirit and my God. Not yet dear Lord…, not yet.
