A Psalm
of David
[Heb: loving]. Bless
the LORD [6x
in this Psalm] [1],
O my soul [my
thoughts]: and
all that is
[“deepest” Amplif. Bible] within
me,
bless his [God’s]
holy name. Bless the LORD,
O my
soul [my
thoughts],
and forget not [even
“one of” Amplif.]
all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine
iniquities [Heb:
perversities, moral evils: faults, sins]; who healeth
[Heb:
to mend (by stitching): cures,
repairs, makes whole] all thy
diseases; Who redeemeth [Heb:
buys back]
thy life from
destruction [Heb: a
pit (espec. a trap):
corruption, (the) grave]; who crowneth
thee with
loving kindness and tender mercies [describing
the
king/priest attributes (chacteristics) of them who will be given the
crown]; Who
satisfieth thy mouth [with
that which
you take into yourself, and give out] with
good
things [things
of God, Godly things, i.e., God’s
Thoughts]; so that thy
youth is renewed [made
new again]
like the eagle's
[“strong, overcoming, soaring” Amplif.] [2].
1.
bless =
Heb: to kneel; by
implication to bless God (as an act of adoration): praise, salute,
thank.
2.
(Isa
40:31) But they that wait
[Heb: (with) patience] upon
the LORD shall renew
[make new again] their
strength [Heb:
vigor: power]; they shall mount up [Heb: ascend] with wings as eagles; they shall run,
and
not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
a.
(Luke
21:19) In your patience [Gk:
cheerful (or hopeful) endurance: waiting] [by
exercising
“temperance” (Gk: self-control)] possess
ye [Gk: acquire
(own): obtain,
purchase] [from Satan]
your souls [your
thoughts (your identity)] [“Patient allegiance to Jesus leads to
eternal life.”
The Nelson Study Bible].
b.
(Matt
24:13) But he that shall endure
unto the end, the same shall be
saved [Gk: delivered or
protected: healed, made whole].
(Psa
103:6-10)
The LORD executeth righteousness and
judgment for
all that are oppressed [Heb: defrauded, violated:
deceived]
[e.g., the impoverished poor]. He made known his ways unto
Moses,
his acts unto the children of Israel. The LORD is merciful and gracious,
slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. He will not
always
chide [Heb: grapple; hold a controversy: contend] [with
Satanic
thoughts]: neither will he keep [hold back] his
anger for ever. He hath not dealt with us after our sins
[Heb: (our) crimes]; nor rewarded us according to our
iniquities [Heb:
perversities, moral evils: faults, sins].
(Psa
103:11-14)
For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his
mercy toward
them that
fear [Heb: revere] him. As
far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our
transgressions
[Heb: (our) revolt: rebellion, sins] from us. Like
as a
father pitieth [Heb:
loves, has
compassion: shows mercy to] his children, so the LORD pitieth [Heb: loves, has
compassion: shows
mercy to] them that fear [Heb: are morally
reverent:
afraid of] him. For he
knoweth our
frame [Heb: fig. (our) conception]; he remembereth
that we
are dust.
(Psa
103:15-18)
As for man, his days are as grass
[Heb:
from the greenness of a courtyard /// a court]: as a flower of
the
field, so he flourisheth [Heb: blossoms]. For
the wind
[a symbol of the Holy Spirit] passeth over it, and it
is gone;
and the place thereof [where the flower was] shall
know it no
more. But the mercy of the LORD is
from
everlasting to everlasting upon them that
fear him,
and his righteousness unto [your] children's
children; To
such as keep his covenant [Heb: a compact (contract)],
and to
those that remember his commandments to do them.
(Psa
103:19-22) The
LORD hath prepared his throne in
the
heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all. Bless the LORD,
ye his
angels, that excel in strength, that do his
commandments, hearkening [Heb:
to hear intelligently:
consider, listen, give ear, be obedient] unto the
voice [Heb: thunder: proclamation] of his word [the Bible]. Bless ye the LORD, all ye
his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure [Heb:
delight] [the Garden of Eden (Heb: delight), is the
archetype and
shadow of Heaven]. Bless the
LORD, all his works in all
places of his dominion: bless the LORD, O my soul.
Amen Rev Lionel
