THE MESSAGE
(Ezekiel 37:1-14)  The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones,  And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry. And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest.  Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD.  Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live:  And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.  So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone.  And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them.  Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.  So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.  Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts.  Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel.  And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves,  And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it, and performed it, saith the LORD.

THE INTERPRETATION
(Ezek 37:1,2)  The hand [Heb: power] of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD [i.e., “The hand of the LORD” is the Holy Spirit], and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones,  And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many [bones] in the open valley [Heb: a split, a wide valley between two mountains] [between two systems of belief]; and, lo, they were very dry [Heb: dried away /// to be ashamed, confused or disappointed; withered] [1]
1.    Commentary: “very dry” = i.e., totally without the Holy Spirit who is symbolized by water, and also symbolized by wind and by fire, (moving things), and in this narrative, by breath.
a.    (Gen 2:7)  And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life [God’s Holy Spirit]; and man became a living soul.

(Ezek 37:3-6)  And he said unto me, Son of man, can these [dry] bones live [Heb: revive: recover, repair, restore (to life), be whole]? And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest.  Again he said unto me, Prophesy [Heb: speak by inspiration (in prediction or simple discourse)] upon these bones [i.e., upon these once upon a time living, skeletal remains of whole bodies], and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear [Heb: intelligently: understand] the word of the LORD.  Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath [Heb: wind] [a symbol of God’s Holy Spirit (Gen 2:7)] to enter into you, and ye shall live [Heb: revive: recover, repair, restore (to life), be whole]:  And I will lay sinews [Heb: tendons] [ligaments] upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath [my Holy Spirit] in you, and ye shall live [Heb: revive: recover, repair, restore (to life), be whole]; and ye shall know [Heb: understand] that I am the LORD.

(Ezek 37:7,8)  So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied [spoke “the word of the LORD”], there was a noise [Heb: to call aloud; a voice or sound: a thundering], and behold a shaking [Heb: vibration, uproar: commotion, earthquake, rattling], and the bones came together [assembled], bone to his bone.  And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath [Heb: wind] [no Holy Spirit] in them.

(Ezek 37:9,10)  Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe [Heb: puff, inflate, blow hard] upon these slain [i.e., upon these walking dead], that they may live [Heb: revive: recover, repair, restore (to life), be whole].  So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath [God’s Holy Spirit] came into them, and they lived [Heb: revived: recovered, repaired, restored (to life), were made whole], and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.

(Ezek 37:11-14)  Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel [only saved persons are true Jews, i.e., us] [1]: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts.  Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel.  And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves,  And shall put my [Holy] spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it, and performed it, saith the LORD.
1.    (Rom 2:28,29)  For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision [the cutting away of the flesh] is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
