(Rom
8:28) And we know that all things work together for good
to
them that love God,
to
them who are the called according to his purpose.
THE
SCALE OF UNDERSTANDING
(Matt
13:1,2)
The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat
[in the
then common teaching position] by the sea side [by
the
side near to the water of the sea of Galilee; the Holy Spirit and
the Word of God are biblically symbolized by water]. And
great
multitudes [of people] were gathered together [on
the dry
land who were without the Holy Spirit] unto him, so that
he went into
a ship [into a vessel (a container) designed
for
plunging through the water, symbolic of the church (collectively), and
of a
saved person (individually)], and sat [and
continued to
teach, supported by the water of the Holy Spirit]; and the whole
multitude stood on the [dry] shore.
BY
THE WAY SIDE (NOT SAVED)
(Matt
13:3,4)
And he spake many things unto them in parables [Gk:
similitudes (symbolically), ficticious narratives (of common life
conveying a
moral)], saying, Behold, a sower [Gk: to
scatter] [i.e., a
farmer, a husbandman scattering] went forth to sow
[His seed] [“Now the parable is this: the seed is the word
of God”
Luke 8:11]; And when he [Jesus Christ and we in
Jesus; He in
us and we in Him] sowed, some seeds fell by the way side
[Gk:
road: journey, highway], and the fowls [Gk:
birds] [i.e.,
devils, demons, unclean spirits, fallen angels] came and devoured
[Gk: to eat down] them [the seeds] up
[completely].
1.
(Luke
8:12) “lest
they should believe and be saved”
2.
(Matt
13:19) When any one heareth the
word of the kingdom, and understandeth it
not,
then cometh the wicked one [Satan and his fallen
angel
followers], and catcheth away that which was sown in
his heart
[Gk: mind]. This is he which received seed by the way
side.
UPON
STONEY PLACES (NOT
SAVED)
(Matt
13:5,6)
Some [seed (words of God)] fell upon stony places
[Gk:
rock like] [hard-hearted places], where they had not
much
earth [not much thoughtfulness. These superficially
experience
adversities (hardships, difficulties, dangers, misfortunes) from the
world and
then do not learn to respond (overcome) those adversities in
loving
grace. To learn to love is why we have been chosen and sent
here. Love is our only
mode of escape from
eternal damnation]: and forthwith [Gk: at once or soon]
they
sprung up, because they had no deepness [Gk:
profundity: depth]
of earth [thoughtfulness]: And when the
sun was up
[an allusion to the second coming of Jesus Christ in
fire
(2 Pet 3:7,12)], they were scorched [Gk: burned]
[as unusable
weeds (wastes) of the field]; and because they had no root [“I
am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning
star”
Rev 22:16], they withered away [Gk: to
desiccate; shrivel:
dry up].
1.
(Luke
8:13) “fall away” Gk: instigate to
revolt, desert: depart, withdraw self.
2.
(Matt
13:20,21) But he that received the seed
into stony places, the same is he that heareth the
word, and anon
with joy receiveth it; Yet hath he not
root in himself, but
dureth for a
while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because
of the word, by and by he is offended [Gk: “scandalized”;
entrapped, tripped up, stumbles; enticed to sin, apostasy or
displeasure].
AMONG
THORNS (SAVED SHEEP)
(Matt
13:7)
And some [seed (words of God)] fell among thorns
[among
painful prickers]; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them
[Gk:
stifled (by drowning or overgrowth) /// strangled: take by the throat]:
1.
(John
10:9) I [Jesus Christ] am the door: by me if any man
enter in,
he shall be saved, and shall go in
and out,
and find pasture. [compare Rev 3:12]
2.
(Luke
8:14) “and bring no fruit to
perfection” Gk: bear to completion (maturity).
3.
(Matt
13:22) He also that received seed among
the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care
[Gk:
distractions] of this world, and the deceitfulness [Gk:
delusions] of riches, choke [Gk: strangle
completely]
the word, and he becometh [over a period of time]
unfruitful
[Gk: barren: without fruit].
INTO
GOOD GROUND (SAVED
SHEPHERDS)
(Matt
13:8,9)
But other [seed (words of God)] fell into good
[thoughtful] ground [Gk: beautiful; good
(morally),
valuable, virtuous: honest, worthy] [i.e., were
converted],
and brought forth [Gk: delivered] [(as the Bride of
Christ
carrying the seed of Jesus Christ (“The Word of God” Rev 19:13 &
John 1:14)
sown inside us, we are pregnant)] fruit
[Gk: fruit
(as plucked)], some an hundredfold [100 times
what was
sown], some sixtyfold [60 times what was sown],
some
thirtyfold [30 times what was sown]. Who hath ears to hear [Gk:
understand], let him hear
[Gk: understand].
1.
(Rev
3:12) Him that overcometh will I
make a
pillar in the temple of my God, and he
shall go no
more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the
name of
the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of
heaven
from my God: and I will write upon him my new name. [compare
John
10:9]
2.
(Luke
8:15) But that on the good ground
are they, which in an honest and good heart [Gk:
mind],
having heard the word, keep [Gk: hold fast:
possess,
retain, seize on] it, and bring forth fruit with patience
[Gk:
endurance: waiting].
3.
(Matt
13:23) But he that received seed into
the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it [Gk: to put
together,
to comprehend: consider, be wise]; which also beareth fruit [Gk:
is fertile], and bringeth forth [delivers:
teaches,
preaches, ministers], some an hundredfold [what they
have
learned], some sixty [fold, what they have
learned],
some thirty [fold, what they have learned].
