(Heb 11:24,25)  By faith [Gk: belief] Moses [Heb: drawn out (of the water), rescued /// pulled out], when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter [and thereby inherit the position of Pharaoh of Egypt]Choosing rather to suffer affliction [tribulation] with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season

THE TEN VIRGINS

ALL PERSONS (MALE AND FEMALE) WHO APPEARED TO BE CHRISTIANS

(Matt 25:1-4)  Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten [symbolically, the biblical number of “completion”] virgins [the “engaged” bride of Christ, i.e., born-again Christians] [1], which took their lamps [i.e., their Bibles] [2], and went forth to meet the bridegroom [Jesus Christ].  And five of them were wise [Gk: thoughtful [3], and five were foolish [Gk: dull or stupid, heedless, moral blockheads] [i.e., not thoughtful] [4]They that were foolish took their lamps [their Bibles (logos)], and took [Gk: got hold of] [possessed] no oil with them [5]:  But the wise took [Gk: got hold of] [possessed] oil [the Holy Spirit] [i.e., they got saved] in their vessels [Gk: receptacles] [i.e., in their bodies (in their minds)] with their lamps [their Bibles] [i.e., they prepared for the future, for the coming of Christ and the Kingdom of God/Heaven whereas the foolish did not]

1.    virgin = Dict: an unmarried girl or woman who has never had sexual intercourse. [i.e., who has never become “one flesh” (Gen 2:24) and thereby exchanged a mixture of spirits; biblically, a forgiven (born-again) bride of Christ]

2.    (Psa 119:105)  NUN. Thy word [the Bible] is a lamp [Heb: to glisten (the burner)] [like the Ark, containing the “logos” word of God] unto my feet, and a light [Heb: illumination, (happiness): bright, clear] unto my path. [a burning lamp held forward as a leader, counselor, and guide for my steps; a type and shadow of the burning bush (Exo 3:2)]

3.    thoughtful = Dict: 1. full of thought; meditative; thinking.

a.     meditate = Dict: 1. to reflect upon; study; ponder. 2. to think deeply and continuously; reflect; muse.

b.    (Joshua 1:8)  [The Lord speaking to Joshua (a type and shadow of Jesus Christ) who is about lead his people across the river Jordan into the Promised Land (symbolic of Heaven)] This book of the law [i.e., the Bible] shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate [Heb: murmur (in pleasure); ponder: imagine, mutter, speak, study, talk, utter] therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous [Heb: to push forward: be profitable], and then thou shalt have good success [Heb: be circumspect and hence intelligent: consider, teach, understand, behave self, guide wittingly]

                                                             i.      circumspect = Dict: careful to consider all related circumstances before acting, judging, deciding, etc.; cautious, careful.

4.    moral = Dict: 1. relating to, dealing with, or capable of making the distinction between, right or wrong in conduct. 2. good or right in conduct or character.

a.     (James 4:8)  Draw nigh [Gk: near] to God, and he will draw nigh [Gk: near] to you. [And this is how you first draw nigh to our perfect God, and then He will draw nigh to you:] Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded

                                                             i.      (Matt 6:24)  No man can serve two masters [Gk: supreme in authority]: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold [Gk: adhere] to the one, and despise [Gk: think against] the other. Ye cannot serve God [the God of the universe] and mammon [Gk: fig. wealth personified] [“the god of this world” 2 Cor 4:4]

5.    Commentary = took [Gk: got hold of] no oil with them: Oil is a symbol of the inspirational teaching of the Holy Spirit. The foolish “got hold of” (possessed) no rhema, no revelations, i.e., no understanding of God’s messages. Why not? Because these foolish “Christians” were “stony ground” people, so categorized because of the willful hardness of their hearts. And because of their love of the things of this world (natural) rather than the love of God (spiritual), they were unprepared (undomesticated, still wild) for the future coming of Christ, and eternally dwelling in the spiritual Kingdom of God/Heaven.

a.     (Mark 4:16,17)  [Jesus said] And these are they likewise [“likewise” to those also unsaved “by the way side” v.15] which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word [“The seed is the word of God” Luke 8:11], immediately receive it [the seed, the words of God] with gladness;  And have no root [of Jesus Christ] [a] in themselves, and so endure but for a time [“for a while” Matt 13:21; Luke 8:13]: afterward, when affliction [Gk: pressure: tribulation, trouble] or persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are offended [Gk: “scandalized”; entrapped, tripped up (fig. stumble or enticed to sin)]. [(Luke 8:13) theyfall away = Gk: remove, revolt; desert: depart, withdraw self]

                                                             i.      (Rev 22:16)  I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.

(Matt 25:5-7) While the bridegroom tarried [Gk: lingered: delayed], they all slumbered [Gk: to nod] and slept [indicating varying degrees of being not fully aware of spiritual reality].  And at midnight [the darkest part of the dark (evil) night (i.e., symbol of Great Tribulation)] there was a cry made [Gk: an outcry (notification, tumult, grief)] [now, because of the onset of Great Tribulation], Behold [Gk: (imperative) lo, see], the bridegroom cometh [at dawn]; go ye out [prepared] to meet him [“to meet the Lord (coming, the Son (sun) dawning) in the air” 1 Thes 4:17].  Then all those virgins arose [Gk: awakened], and trimmed [Gk: to put in proper order; specif. to snuff (a wick)] [1] their lamps [i.e., their corrected doctrines of their Bibles].

1.    snuff = Dict: to trim off the charred [burnt] end of (a candlewick).

FOR THE FOOLISH SHALL REMAIN FOOLISH AND THE WISE SHALL REMAIN WISE

(Matt 25:8-13 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.  But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell [preachers], and buy [sacrifice (your precious time)] for yourselves.  And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready [the wise virgins] went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.  Afterward came also the other [foolish] virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.  But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.  Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh

AS THE DAYS OF NOAH

(Matt 24:37-39)  But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.  For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark,  And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be
