tribulation = Gk: [GREAT] pressure [to conform: Rom 12:2]:

affliction, anguish, burden, persecution, trouble.

THE GREAT TRIBULATION

(Zech 14:1,2) Behold, the day of the LORD cometh [“For our God is a consuming fire (Gk: to consume utterly) Heb 12:29], and thy spoil [Heb: booty: prey] [goods, possessions, but ultimately thy thoughts, i.e., your real eternal booty for both God and Satan is the thoughts of your mind which] shall be divided in the midst of thee [i.e., your spirit (spiritual thoughts) and your soul (natural thoughts) shall be divided (separated) within you]. For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken [Gk: caught (in a net, trap); captured], and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity [for perhaps a relevant parallel, half of the United States is now being held captive under evil messengers of ungodly thoughts (under Satan’s thoughts)], and the residue [Heb: remainder, remnant] of the people [(good news for us)] shall not be cut off [Heb: consumed] from the city. 

1.    (Zech 13:7,8) Awake, O sword [“of the Spirit, which is the word of God” Eph 6:17], against my shepherd [against false teachers in the pulpit], and against the man that is my fellow [against nominal professing Christians vs. true confessing Christians], saith the LORD of hosts: smite [Heb: strike: wound or kill] the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn mine hand [of correction (cleansing)] upon the little ones [babes in Christ]. And it shall come to pass, that in all the land [Heb: in (all) the world] [having a present population of over 8 billion people (souls), or 8,000 million people (souls)], saith the LORD, two parts [two thirds or 5,332 million people (souls)] therein shall be cut off [Heb: to cut (off, down or asunder); by implic. destroyed or consumed] and die [Heb: to breathe out, expire: be dead, give up the ghost]; but the third [part, 2,666 million people (souls) in the world] shall be left therein [i.e., the “rapture” is not a physical ascension, but the “rapture” is a spiritual ascension, i.e., we are being raptured now, step by step, revelation upon revelation: 

a.     (Gen 28:12) And he [Jacob, a type and shadow of we who have become Israel] dreamed, and behold a ladder [Heb: a stair-case] [of steps, “ladder” is mentioned only once in the Bible)] set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels [Heb: messengers (messages)] of God ascending and descending on it. 

b.    (John 1:51) And he [Jesus] saith unto him [unto Nathanael, a type and shadow of us], Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open [Gk: opened up], and the angels [Gk: messengers (messages)] of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man [i.e., upon Jesus Christ, and upon we who are in Him; i.e., Jesus Christ is the only ladder to Heaven]. 

2.    (Zech 13:9) And I will bring the third part [that’s us] through the fire, and will refine them [Heb: to fuse (metal): melt, purify, purge away] [the dross: syn: rubbish, trash, garbage, scum, waste] as silver [a valuable precious metal representing salvation and Jesus Christ in the Bible] is refined, and will try them [Heb: to test (especially metals)] as gold [Heb: to shimmer; gold] [a valuable most precious metal representing God in the Bible] is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God.
