THE GREAT APOSTASY
08-06-23
God is
Thought. The
brightness of our revelations depends upon the correctness of our
doctrines, our building blocks, our Godly thoughts laid one upon
another, ascending into the mind of Christ. These study notes are archived at tabernacleofmoses.org.
APOSTASY
(abandoning faith)
Dict.: an
abandoning of what one has believed in, as a faith, cause,
principles, etc.
(2 Thes 2:1,2) Now we beseech
[Gk: intreat, pray] you, brethren, by
[Gk: over, regarding: on the part of] the [Second] coming of our Lord Jesus
Christ, and by our gathering together
[“to meet the Lord in the air” 1 Thes 4:17 (by our “rapture”)] unto him [unto Christ Jesus], That
ye be not soon shaken [Gk: waver, agitated, rocked, fig.
disturbed, incited] in mind [in your thoughts], or
be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us,
as that [convey the error of] the day of Christ [“the
day of the Lord” i.e., the 1,000 year Millennium (2 Pet 3:8)] is at
hand [Gk: (is) present] [1].
1. (2 Pet
3:10) But the day of the Lord will come
as a thief in the night [i.e., as a sudden surprise]; in the
which the heavens shall pass away with a
great noise [enormous explosions, blasts (a spiritual “trumpet”
call)], and the elements [Gk:
orderly arrangements] shall melt [Gk:
loosen: break up, dissolve] with fervent
[extreme, impassioned] heat [Gk:
be set on fire] [“For our God is a consuming fire.” Heb 12:29], the earth also and the works
[of man] that are therein shall be burned
up. Seeing then that all these things shall
be dissolved [Gk: loosened: broken up, melted], what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy
conversation [Gk: behavior] and godliness, Looking
for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God,
wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt
with fervent heat? Nevertheless we,
according to his promise, look for new heavens and a
new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
THE
DIVORCE
(2 Thes 2:3,4) Let no man deceive you [Gk: to seduce wholly: beguile ///
cheat, delude] by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a
falling away first [Gk: a defection,
(“apostasy”) /// separation, (specifically) divorce], and that man of sin
be revealed [Gk: to take off the cover, disclosed], the
son of perdition [Gk: ruin or loss: damnation, destruction, waste]; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all
that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he
as God sitteth [on
the throne] in the temple of God [“ye
are the temple of God” 1 Cor 3:16] [sitting on the throne of every
lost soul’s heart], shewing [Gk: to show off, exhibiting]
himself that he is God [i.e., in total control of the thoughts
of his subjected followers].
REMEMBER
(2 Thes 2:5-7) Remember ye
not, that, when I was yet with you [on a previous visit], I told
you these things? And now ye know what withholdeth [“is
restraining” NKJV] [1] [i.e., the blanket of the Holy Spirit is covering
the world and thereby restraining the man of sin] that he [the man of sin, Antichrist] might be revealed [Gk: to take off the cover,
disclosed] in his [appointed] time. For the mystery
of iniquity [Gk: illegality, violation of law, wickedness] doth
already work [Gk: show forth self]: only
he [the Holy Spirit] who now
letteth [“restrains” NKJV] will
let [will continue to restrain],
until he [the Holy Spirit] be taken out of the way [by God from
obstructing, thwarting, restraining the man of sin who is Antichrist].
1. restrain
= Dict.: 1. to hold back from action; check, suppress; curb. 2. to keep under
control. 3. to limit; restrict.
THAT
WICKED
(2 Thes 2:8-10) And then shall that Wicked [Gk:
lawless] be revealed [Gk: to take
off the cover, disclosed] [1], whom the Lord shall
consume with the spirit of his mouth
[“which is the word of God”] [2], and shall destroy with the brightness [glory] of his
coming: Even him [who is destined to be consumed, destroyed],
whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and
signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness
of unrighteousness in them that perish [Gk: are destroyed fully,
die]; because they received not the love of the
truth, that they might be saved.
1. (Dan
7:25) And he [Antichrist, the man of sin] shall speak great words against the most High [God and His saved
children], and shall wear out [Heb:
afflict] the saints of the most
High, and think to change times and laws:
and they [the saints] shall be given into his hand until a
time and times and the dividing of time [for 3 ½ years, i.e., the Great
Tribulation].
2. (Eph
6:17) And take the helmet of salvation, and the
sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
STRONG
DELUSION
(2 Thes 2:11,12) And for
this cause [i.e., for their unbelief] God
shall send them [the unbelievers] strong delusion [i.e., Great Tribulation], that they should believe a
lie [Gk: falsehoods: lying]: That they all might be
damned [Gk: condemned, punished] who believed not the truth [1], but had [self-serving]
pleasure in unrighteousness.
1. (John
14:6) Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by
me.
BUT GOD CALLED YOU
OUT OF THIS WORLD SYSTEM
(2 Thes 2:13-17) But we
are bound to give thanks alway(s) to God for you, brethren beloved of
the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen
you to salvation through sanctification [Gk: purification
/// to make holy] of the Spirit and belief
of the truth: Whereunto he called you
by our gospel [Gk: good news], to the
obtaining [Gk: acquisition: purchase, possession] of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore,
brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions [teachings] which
ye have been taught, whether by word [i.e., by the Bible],
or our epistle [Gk: a written message: letter]. Now
our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good
hope through grace, Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in
every good word and work.
Amen
