SODOM
AND GOMORRHA
(2 Pet
2:6-8)
And [God] turning the cities of Sodom
[false doctrines] [1] and Gomorrha
[false works] [2] into ashes condemned
[Gk: judged against, sentenced: damned] them
with an overthrow [Gk: overturn (“catastrophe”), demolition;
fig.
apostasy] [Dict.: an abandoning of what one has believed in],
making
them an ensample unto those
that after
should live ungodly; And
delivered [Gk:
rescued] just [Gk: innocent, holy: righteous]
Lot
[Heb: a veil: covering], vexed [Gk:
#2669; to labor
down, (to) wear (out) with toil] [Dan 7:25] with the
filthy
conversation [Gk: behavior] of the wicked
[Gk:
criminals]: (For that righteous man dwelling among
them, in
seeing and hearing, vexed [Gk: #928; tortured: pained,
tormented]
his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful
[Gk: lawless: wicked] deeds;) [3]
1.
Sodom =
Heb: to scorch; burnt
(volcanic or bituminous [Dict.: tar]) district near the Dead
Sea.
2.
Gomorrha
= Heb: a place near the
Dead Sea /// a ruined heap /// to gather grain [people]:
bind
sheaves, make merchandise of [i.e., businesses for
profit rather than for love].
3.
Commentary:
we and our believing
families are about to go up, to be spiritually “raptured”
as exemplified by Lot and his family. This will happen before the
world-wide
nuclear devastation of
the great tribulation that is even now being
symbolically introduced
(revealed) as the fourth seal of the Apocalypse, namely, “a pale
horse”
(Rev 6:7,8).
THE
PROPHESY
Ultimately,
there are only two ways (natural or spiritual) of perceiving and
thinking of
things,
and
the consequences of perceiving each way
(Gen
19:1-8) And
there came
two
angels
to Sodom [symbol
of false doctrines (false
beliefs, false thoughts)] at
even; and Lot
[Heb: a veil: covering] sat in
the gate
of Sodom [a
social position of eminence, prominence]: and
Lot
seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself
with his
face toward the ground [for
Lot spiritually
perceived the two men to be angels]; And
he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your
servant's house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye
shall rise
up early, and go on your ways. And they said, Nay; but
we will
abide [dwell]
in
the street all night. And he pressed [Heb:
urged] upon
them greatly; and they turned
in unto him, and entered into his house
[the
House of God] [1]; and
he made [Heb:
served] them a
feast, and did bake unleavened
bread, and they did eat. But before they lay down, the men of
the city,
even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and
young, all
the people from every quarter: And they called unto Lot, and
said unto
him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring
them
out unto us, that we may know
[“be intimate with” Amplified Bible] them
[for
the men of the city naturally
perceived the two men to be beautiful men]. And
Lot went out at the door [“I am
the door”
John 10:7,9] unto
them, and shut the door
after him [a
shadow of Noah’s ark], And
said [preached
unto them],
I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly. Behold now, I
have two
daughters [“who
are virgins” Amplif.]
which have not known man [intimately];
let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as
is good in
your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore
came they under
the shadow [hospitality,
protection,
responsibility] of
my roof.
1.
(2 Cor
6:16) Know ye not that ye are the
temple [house] of
God, and that the
Spirit [Angel (Psa 104:4; Heb 1:7] of God dwelleth in you? [angels
(the thoughts of God) enter
into us].
(Gen
19:9-11)
And they said, Stand back
[withdraw!, retreat!, go away!]. And they said again, This one
fellow [Lot]
came in to sojourn [temporarily dwell in Sodom],
and he
will needs be [he thinks he is] a judge: now
will we deal worse
with thee [Lot], than with them [the
two men].
And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and
came near to break the door [but “A bone of him shall not
be
broken” John 19:36b]. But the men [the two angels]
put
forth their hand [Heb: power], and
pulled Lot into the house to them [a type and
shadow of Lot
being “caught up” (1 Thes 4:17) in the rapture], and shut to
the door
[like Noah’s ark]. And they smote [Heb:
wounded] [vs.
“killed” (i.e., judged), an action that may be healed,
suggesting that
they might recover their angelic (spiritual) sight] the
men
that were at the door of the house [(temple)]
with blindness, both small and
great: so
that they wearied themselves to find the door [the way
to heaven].
PREPARING
FOR THE RAPTURE
(Gen
19:12-14)
And the men [the two angels] said unto Lot, Hast
thou
here any besides [you]? son in law, and thy sons, and
thy
daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this
place: For we will destroy this place, because the [evil]
cry of them is waxen great before the face of the LORD; and
the LORD
hath sent us to destroy it. And Lot
went out,
and spake [Heb: teached]
[i.e., preached]
unto his sons in law, which married his daughters
[who
were still virgins (Gen 19:8)], and said, Up, get you out of
this place;
for the LORD will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that
mocked
[Heb: played, made sport] unto his sons in law.
THE
RAPTURE (OUR ESCAPE)
(Gen
19:15-17)
And when the morning [Heb: dawn] arose,
then the
[two] angels hastened [Heb: pressed, hurried]
Lot
[Heb: a veil: covering], saying, Arise, take thy
wife, and
thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the
iniquity
[Heb: perversity, moral evil: sin] of the city. And
while he [Lot] lingered [Heb:
hesitated, by
implic. be reluctant: delayed], the men laid hold
[Heb:
seized] upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife,
and
upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful
[Heb:
compassionate: (having) pity] unto him: and they
brought him
forth [Heb: pulled (him)] [like being birthed, born-again
into
heaven, into another dimension (of understanding)], and set
him
without [Heb: separated, outside] the
city. And
it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that
he [one
of the angels] said, Escape for thy
life;
look not behind thee, neither stay thou [Heb:
dwell]
in all the plain [Heb: region]; escape
to the mountain [of God], lest
thou be
consumed.
THE
GREAT TRIBULATION
(Gen
19:23-26)
The sun [Son] was risen upon the earth
when Lot
entered into Zoar [Heb: little /// fig. ignoble, be
brought low]. Then the LORD rained
upon Sodom [false
doctrine] and upon Gomorrah [false
works] brimstone [Heb:
sulfer] and fire from the LORD
out of heaven; And he
overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the
inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the
ground. But
his wife looked back from behind him [“look not behind
thee”
v.17], and she became a pillar of salt [Heb:
powder,
(pulverized and dissolved) /// to disappear as dust: vanish away].
THE
GREAT TRIBULATION IS SYMBOLICALLY PORTRAYED BY
THE
FOURTH HORSEMAN OF THE APOCALYPSE
(Rev
6:8) And
I looked [the first direct mention of John actually looking
in the apocalypse, thus an emphatic and commanding phrase], and
behold a pale [Gk: green]
horse [of great power]:
and his name
that sat on him was Death
[prophetically referencing
to the climax of the current government doctrine of “The Green
New Deal,”an environmentally “green” climate change], and Hell followed with him. [we are not
destined
to go to Hell; therefore, previous to this time of Death and
Hell, we were
“raptured” and are no longer here] And power [“God
shall
send them strong delusion” (2 Thes 2:11); strong delusion is
symbolically portrayed
in Rev 6:1,2)] was given [sent] unto them [unto
the
antichrists] over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with
sword
[war (Rev 6:3,4)], and with hunger [famine (Rev
6:5,6)],
and with death [pestilence, i.e., diseases (Rev 6:7,8)],
and with the beasts [Gk: a dangerous animal: (venomous,
wild)] [1]
of the earth.
1.
(Eccl
3:18) I said in mine heart
concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might
manifest [make
apparent to] them, and that they might see [Heb: discern]
that they themselves are beasts
[i.e.,
without the Holy Spirit].
Amen
(Heb
13:2) Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some
have
entertained angels unawares.
