depends upon the correctness of our doctrines, our building blocks, our Godly

THE
LORD IS MY SHEPHERD
Psa
23:1 A Psalm
of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall
not want. Psa 23:2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he
leadeth me beside the still waters. Psa 23:3 He restoreth my soul:
he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Psa
23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will
fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort
me. Psa 23:5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of
mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Psa
23:6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
Psa
23:1 A
Psalm [Heb:
instrumental music; by implic. a poem to set notes] of David. The LORD is my shepherd [Heb:
to tend a flock; to associate with (as a friend): keep company with];
I shall not want [Heb: lack; by implic. to fail: decrease]
[His purpose]. Psa 23:2 He maketh me
to lie down [Heb: make (me) to rest]
in green [Heb: tender grass] [in lush flourishing]
pastures [Heb: pleasant places /// beautiful]:
he leadeth [Heb: protects, sustains]
me beside the still [Heb: peaceful]
waters [a symbol of humanity at rest].
Psa 23:3 He restoreth [1,2]
my soul [Heb:
(my) mind /// breath (spirit)]: he leadeth [Heb:
guides] me in the paths of righteousness [paths
of godliness, i.e., thinking and doing like Jesus]
for his name's sake [Heb: (for His) purpose]. Psa
23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley [Heb:
a gorge (from its lofty sides)] [the grave] of
the shadow [i.e.,
types and shadows] of death [Heb:
the grave (fig. calamity)], I will fear
[Heb: to revere; (be) frightened: afraid
of] no evil: for
thou art with me; thy rod [Heb:
stick (for punishing, writing, fighting, ruling, walking: correction, dart,
sceptre] and thy staff [Heb: support, fig. sustenance, a
walking stick /// a protector] [i.e., both the rod and staff together
symbolize the Bible] they comfort me. Psa
23:5 Thou preparest [Heb: set in a row, arrange, put in
order: set (the battle, self) in array] a table [Heb: by
implic. a meal] [of God’s blessings] before me [in front
of me] in the
presence [(as standing round about)] of mine enemies [Heb: (mine) adversaries]:
thou anointest [Heb: fatten; fig. to satisfy: make (wax) fat)] my
head [my thoughts] with oil [i.e., with Holy Spirit
teaching]; my cup [my capacity for
understanding, for comprehension] runneth
over [Heb: (with) satisfaction /// to slake the thirst:
satiate, (abundantly satisfy), soak]. Psa 23:6 Surely goodness and mercy [Heb:
kindness: (merciful) kindness, pity] [sown love-seeds] shall follow me all the days of my life: and I
will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
1.
restoreth
= Heb: #7725; to turn back, return to the
starting point, fetch home again: retrieve, reverse, take back, turn
again.
2.
Commentary: so then, to what Holy state (condition) shall we be returned to?
a.
(Eccl 12:7) Then shall the dust return to the earth [Gen 2:7] as it
was: and the spirit [Psa 104:4; Heb 1:7] shall return unto God who gave it.
