THE
VOICE OF THE LORD
(Joel 2:1) Blow ye the trumpet in
Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants
of the
land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at
hand;
(Joel 2:2) A day of darkness and of
gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning
spread upon
the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever
the like,
neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many
generations.
YOUR
PREPARATION FOR THE THE DAY OF THE LORD
(Joel 2:1) Blow [Heb:
(loudly) sound] ye the trumpet [the
shofar or ram’s horn (God’s horn,
God’s trumpet) signaling significant attention] in Zion [physically,
the highest mountain in
Jerusalem; spiritually, a type and shadow of Mount Sinai; the
priests,
pastors (shepherds) of the congregation who are the voice of the
LORD], and sound an alarm
[Heb:
make a
joyful noise, shout for joy] in my holy mountain [in
Zion/Jerusalem (shepherds/sheep)]: let all the inhabitants
of the land [surrounding
the “holy mountain” of Zion/Jerusalem, i.e., the not holy unsaved
people,
the not willing to be saved people, not willing to receive
Jesus
Christ as their Lord and Savior, not willing to change, not
willing to
be “transformed”] [1] tremble [Heb:
quiver
(any violent emotion, espec. with anger or fear): be afraid, quake,
rage,
shake] [Heb 12:26,27]: for the day of
the LORD cometh [i.e.,
as the
thousand year Millennium] [2], for it is nigh [Gk:
(very) near] at hand;
1.
(Rom
12:1,2) I beseech [Gk:
implore] you therefore, brethren [fellow servants
to Father God, (clay to the potter)], by the mercies of God,
that ye [you
are a spirit (like water) temporarily living inside a body (a
container of
clay)] present [Gk: yield] your bodies
[your
most precious possession] a living sacrifice
[dedicated to
serving God’s work], holy, acceptable unto God, which is your
reasonable service [to your Creator, i.e., serving Him for
the
purpose (His purpose) that He created you for. Nothing was ever created
without
a purpose. What is your purpose?]. And be not conformed
[Gk:
fashioned alike: fashion (your) self according to] to this world
[Gk:
age]: but be ye transformed [Gk:
“metamorphosed”: changed,
transfigured] [from a caterpillar into a butterfly] by the renewing
[Gk: renovation] [syn: makeover, overhaul, reconstruction,
reformation,
repair, restoration] of your mind
[of your
thoughts], that ye may prove [Gk: discern]
what is
that good, and acceptable, and perfect, [the] will
of God.
2.
(2
Peter 3:8) But, beloved, be
not ignorant [Gk: unaware] of this one thing, that one
day
is with the Lord as a thousand years [to us],
and a
thousand years as one day [to the Lord].
THE
DAY OF THE LORD
(Joel 2:2) A day [for all unsaved people]
of darkness [Heb:
the dark; fig. misery, destruction, death, ignorance, sorrow,
wickedness] [“darkness” Gen 1:1-3] [1] and of gloominess [Dict:
despair, dismal, depressing], a day of clouds [Heb: a
cloud (as covering the sky), the nimbus or
thunder cloud /// to cover over; fig. to act covertly, practice
magic:
enchanter, sorcerer] and of thick darkness, [and at
the same time an altogether
different opposite day for all
saved people:] as the morning [Heb:
light] spread[ing] upon the mountains [enlightening
the darkness of pride]: a great people and a
strong [Heb:
powerful: mighty] [“I have chosen
(Gk: selected) you” John 15:16]; there hath not been
ever the like [the
“first resurrection” (Rev 20:5,6) of the Saints] [2], neither shall be any
more after it [for a
period of time until the “great white throne” resurrection (second
death) and
judgment of the sinners (Rev 20:11)], even to [Heb:
until] the years of many
generations [many
generations from the beginning (the first resurrection) “until”
the end (the
second death”) of the 1,000 year Millennium, during which time
the
resurrected Saints (Christians) will preach, teach, and “renew the
minds” (ref.
Rom 12:2) of many [3].
1.
(Gen
1:1-3) In the beginning God created the heaven and the
earth. And the
earth was without form, and void; and darkness
[Heb:
the dark; fig. misery, destruction, death,
ignorance, sorrow, wickedness] was
upon the
face [anthropomorphism]
of the deep. And the Spirit of God [i.e.,
God’s Thoughts] moved
upon the face of the
waters [i.e.,
moved upon the face of the fallen
angels, for healing]. And
God
said, Let there be light [Heb:
illumination (in every sense, including happiness)]:
and there was light [Heb:
illumination (in every sense, including happiness)] [“I am the light
of the
world (Gk: kosmos; “cosmos” (universe)” John 8:12; 9:5, i.e., Jesus
Christ].
2.
(Rev
20:4-6) And I saw thrones, and they [“a
great people
and a strong” Joel 2] sat upon them, and judgment
was given
unto them [a]: and I saw the souls of them that were
beheaded
for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and
which had
not worshipped the beast [Gk: a dangerous animal:
(venomous,
wild) beast], neither his image [Gk: likeness,
fig.
representation], neither had received his mark [Gk:
scratch or etching, stamp (as a badge of servitude)] upon
their
foreheads [their foremost thoughts], or in their
hands [in
their works (in what they do)]; and they lived and reigned
[as “kings and priests” Rev 1:6; 5:10, i.e., secular and spiritual
dominion] with
Christ a thousand years. But the rest [Gk:
remaining]
of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were
finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed
and
holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on
such the second death [i.e.,
the second
resurrection] hath no power, but they shall be priests
of God
and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
a.
(1
Cor 6:2,3) Do ye not know that the saints shall judge
the world
[Gk: kosmos; “cosmos” (universe)]? and if the world
shall be judged
by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? Know
ye not
that we shall judge [fallen] angels? how
much more
things that pertain to this life?
3.
(Rev
20:11-15) And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat
on it, from
whose face the [present] earth and the [present]
heaven [Gk: sky] fled away; and there was found no
place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand
before God; and the books were opened: and another book
was
opened, which is the book of life:
and the dead were judged out of those things which were written
in
the books, according to their works. And the sea
gave up
the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the
dead
which were in them: and they were judged every man
according to their
works [recorded in “the books”]. And death
and hell
were cast into the lake of fire. This
is the
second death. And whosoever [WHOSOEVER]
was not found written in the book of life [i.e.,
not
found imputed for righteousness, saved, born-again] was cast into the lake of fire [“everlasting
fire, prepared [purposed] for the devil and his [fallen]
angels:”
Matt 25:41].
Amen
