(Luke 8:11) Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

THE PARABLE OF THE KINDS OF OUR RECEPTION OF THE SEED (WORDS)

THAT FALL ON/INTO THE GROUND (SOIL, DIRT) IN OUR MINDS (THOUGHTS)

(Matt 13:1-3) The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side [in a teaching mode; water is a symbol of the Holy Spirit]. And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat [and taught]; and the whole multitude stood on the shore [on dry ground] [1]. And he [Jesus] spake many things unto them in parables [Gk: (symbolically), a fictitious narrative of common life conveying a moral], saying, Behold, a sower [a farmer, one who scatters seed] went forth to sow [Gk: scatter seed];

1.    (Luke 5:4) Now when he had left speaking [teaching to the multitude], he said unto Simon [Heb: hearing], Launch out into the deep [Gk: profound: depth], and let down your nets [the Word of God] for a draught.

a.     (Rom 10:17) So then faith [Gk: belief] cometh by hearing [(literally)], and hearing [unerstanding] by the word [Gk: rhema] [revelation] of God.

b.    (Matt 13:47-50) Again, the kingdom of heaven [the kingdom of of God] is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind: Which, when it was full, they [the angels] drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels [my 1961 (prophetic?) dream in Saudi Arabia and UFOs? or, anybody’s guess?], but cast the bad away. So shall it be at the end of the world [Gk: aion]: the angels shall come forth [“shall be revealed in us” Rom 8:18 & 1 Thes 1:7-12], and sever the wicked from among the just [Gk: righteous], And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

2.    (Matt 13:18) Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.

THE SEED (WORDS) OF GOD THAT FALL BY THE WAY SIDE IN OUR MINDS (THOUGHTS)

(Matt 13:4) And when he sowed [seeds - words], some seeds fell by the way side [Gk: road side, pathway] [“and it was “trodden down” Luke 8:5], and the fowls [unclean spirits, demons, fallen angels] came and devoured them up:

1.    (Matt 13:19) When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one [“Satan” Mark 4:15; “the devil” Luke 8:12], and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart [Gk: fig. the thoughts or feelings, the mind] [“lest they should believe and be saved” Luke 8:12]. This is he which received seed by the way side.

THE SEED (WORDS) OF GOD THAT FALL UPON THE STONY GROUND IN OUR MINDS (THOUGHTS)

(Matt 13:5,6) Some [seeds - words] fell upon stony places [Gk: rocky], where they had not much earth [i.e., mostly rocks]: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness [Gk: profundity /// profund (as going down)] of earth [of their mind]: And when the sun [enlightenment] was up, they were scorched [Gk: burned]; and because they had no root [“I am the root… and the bright and morning star” Rev 22:16, i.e., no Jesus Christ], they withered away [Gk: dessicated, shriveled: dry up] [i.e., they had no Holy Spirit].

1.    (Matt 13:20,21) But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon [Gk: immediately] with joy [Gk: delight] receiveth it; Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth [endures] for a while [Gk: temporarily]: for when tribulation [Gk: pressure] or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended [of God and is] [Gk: entrapped, tripped up, stumbles, enticed to sin].

THE SEED (WORDS) OF GOD THAT FALL AMONG THE THORNS IN OUR MINDS (THOUGHTS)

(Matt 13:7) And some [seeds - words] fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked [Gk: to stifle (by overgrowth) /// to strangle: take by the throat] them [the seeds]:

1.    (Matt 13:22) He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care [Gk: distractions] of this world, and the deceitfulness [Gk: delusions] of riches, choke [Gk: to stifle (by overgrowth) /// to strangle: take by the throat] the word, and he becometh unfruitful [Gk: barren: without fruit].

THE SEED (WORDS) OF GOD THAT FALL INTO THE GOOD GROUND (SOIL)

IN OUR MINDS (THOUGHTS)

(Matt 13:8,9) But other [seeds - words] fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear [understand].

1.    (Matt 13:23) But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold [“much fruit” John 15:5], some sixty [“more fruit” John 15:2], some thirty [“fruit” John 15:2].

(Matt 13:51) Jesus saith unto them, Have ye understood all these things? They say unto him. Yea, Lord.

(Mark 4:13) And he said unto them, Know [Gk: understand] ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables?

(Luke 8:8) And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Amen
