HE IS
RISEN, AND HE IS COMING “IN
THE THIRD DAY” (i.e., TODAY)
(Matt
16:21-23) From that time forth
began Jesus to shew unto his disciples [Gk:
learners,
pupils] [students], how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and
suffer
many things of the elders [Gk: specif. Israelite
Sanhedrists] [1]
and chief priests [coincidentally analogous to
Senators?] and
scribes [coincidentally analogous to Representatives?]
[scribes
were lawyers, experts in the Mosaic Law: Matt 22:35; Luke 7:30],
and
be killed, and be raised again the third day [2].
Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke [Gk:
admonish; by
implic. to forbid: (straitly) charge] him, saying, Be
it far
from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee. But he [Jesus]
turned
[to focus His attention upon Peter (in the midst of His
disciples)],
and said unto Peter [a command:], Get thee
behind me
[i.e., follow me rather than attempt to lead me], Satan
[i.e., Peter, at that time, was being Satanically influenced
(controlled) by
Satan]: thou art an offence unto me: for thou
savourest not
[Gk: to exercise the mind, entertain or have a sentiment or
opinion, be
concerned about: think (about)] the things that be of God,
but
those [things] that be of men.
1.
Sanhedrin
= Nelson’s Illustrated Bible Dictionary: (a council or assembly) the
highest
ruling body and court of justice among the Jewish people in the
time of
Jesus, headed by the High Priest of Israel [coincidentally
analogous to our federal governing body? “History repeats itself”].
2.
(Hosea
6:1-3) Come, and let us return [one cannot
“return” to
a place one has never been] unto the LORD: for he hath torn
[us] [Heb: plucked (us) off] [separated us from Him, for
we were
once (“born,” i.e., created) an entirely acceptable part of Him],
and he will heal us [Heb: mend, fig. cure: repair, X
thoroughly,
make whole]; he hath smitten [Heb: wounded] [us],
and he will bind us up [Heb: to wrap firmly] [in His
Arms].
After two days [after 2,000 years] [a] will
he revive
us [b]: in the third day he will raise
us up,
and we shall live [b] in his sight. Then
shall we know
[Heb: understand], if we follow on to know
the
LORD [to where does the Bible (John 1:14) lead you?]:
his going
forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come
unto us
as the rain [symbol of the Holy Spirit], as the
latter
[Heb: the spring rain; fig. eloquence] [c] and former rain
[Heb:
sprinkling; (autumnal showers): the first rain] unto the earth
[Gen
2:7].
a.
(2
Pet 3:8) But, beloved, be not ignorant [Gk:
unawares] of
this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand
years,
and a thousand years as one day. [(from Jesus)]
b.
revive
= Heb: to live: make alive, quicken, recover, repair,
restore
(to life), make whole.
c.
eloquent
= Dict: 1. having, or characterized by, eloquence; fluent, forceful,
and
persuasive. 2. vividly expressive.
(Matt
16:24-28) Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will
[i.e.,
the endowment of “choice”] come after me [follow the
Bible],
let him deny [Gk: to deny utterly, disown, abstain] himself
[from performing animalistic soulical urgings], and
take up
his cross [1], and follow me [think
as I think,
and do as I do]. For whosoever will save his
[soulical
(animal mind, will, and emotions)] life shall lose it [Gk:
be destroyed fully: die, perish]: and whosoever will lose
[Gk:
destroy fully: die, perish] [put to death] his [soulical]
life for my sake [Gk: on account of: because of, by
reason of]
[Me] shall find it [syn: discover, uncover;
obtain, get; recover]
[find his soulical life transformed (changed, transfigured) into
spiritual life,
forever]. For what is a man profited [Gk:
benefited:
advantaged], if he shall gain the whole world [Gk:
kosmos;
“cosmos” (universe)], and lose [Gk: be cast away]
[from
the Kingdom of Heaven/God] his own soul [Gk:
spirit]?
or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul [Gk:
spirit]?
For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father [i.e.,
shall come in the Shekinah = Dict. the manifestation of the presence of
God;
Divine Presence] with his angels [the sixth seal];
and then he shall reward every man according to his works.
Verily I say
unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of
death, till
they see [“in the twinkling of an eye” 1 Cor 15:52] the
Son of man coming in his kingdom.
1.
Commentary:
“and take up his cross” = of crucifixion, i.e., to nail his sins
(his
sinful body, his fleshly deeds) to the wooden cross of forgiveness by
denying
the fleshly call to sin, thereby disowning and abstaining from
performing his
soulical (animal) urgings and desires.
YOUR
FUTURE
PROPHETICALLY VISITED
(Matt
17:1-3) And after six days [an allusion to the sixth
seal?]
Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth
them up
into an high mountain apart, And was transfigured [Gk: transformed
(“metamorphosed”): changed, transfigured] before them
[1]:
and his face did shine [Gk: beam, radiate
brilliancy: give
light] as the sun, and his raiment [Gk:
clothes,
garment, robe] was white [symbolically, in the
Dict:
morally or spiritually pure; spotless; innocent] as the light
[Dict:
containing all of the visible rays of the spectrum] [syn: illumination,
brilliance, radiance, enlightenment]. And, behold, there
appeared unto
them Moses [representing “the dead in Christ”] and
Elijah [representing “we which are alive and remain”] [2] talking
[Gk: to talk together, conversing] with him.
1.
(Rom
12:1,2) I beseech [plead with] you therefore, brethren,
by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies [your
whole
self] a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God,
which is
your reasonable service. And be not conformed to [Gk:
to the same
patterns of] this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing
[Gk: renovation] [re-newing, making new again]
of your mind [Gk: intellect: understanding], that
ye may prove
[Gk: discern] what is that good [30 fold],
and
acceptable [60 fold], and perfect [100 fold],
will
of God.
2.
(1
Thes 4:15-18) For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that
we
which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord
shall not prevent
[Gk: precede, go before] them which are asleep [Gk:
dead]. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a
shout, with
the voice of the archangel [Michael], and with the
trump
of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we
which
are alive and remain shall be caught up [Gk:
seized:
plucked (up), taken (by force)] [i.e., Lot “lingered” Gen 19:16]
together
with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and
so shall
we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another
with
these words.
a.
(1
Cor 15:51-56) Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep
[Gk:
be dead], but we shall all be changed [transformed],
In a moment, in the twinkling [Gk: an instant] of
an
eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall
sound, and the
dead shall be raised incorruptible [Gk: undecaying:
immortal],
and we [“which are alive and remain”] shall be changed
[transformed]. For this corruptible [Gk:
decaying] must
put on [Gk: in the sense of sinking into a
garment]
incorruption [Gk: unending existence; fig. genuinenss],
and this mortal [Gk: liable to die] must put
on [Gk:
in the sense of sinking into a garment] immortality
[Gk:
deathlessness]. So when this corruptible shall have put on
incorruption,
and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to
pass
the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up
[“utterly
vanquished, forever” Amplif.] in victory. O death, where
is
thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of
death is sin;
and the strength of sin is the law.
b.
(Gal
3:22-27) But the scripture hath concluded all under sin,
that the
promise by faith [Gk: belief] of Jesus Christ
might be
given to them that believe. But before faith came, we
were kept under
the law, shut up [separated] unto the faith which
should afterwards
be revealed. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us
unto
Christ, that we might be justified [Gk: rendered
innocent]
by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no
longer under
a schoolmaster. For ye are all the children of God by faith
in
Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized [Gk:
to
make whelmed (fully wet): washed] [i] into Christ have put on
[Gk:
in the sense of sinking into a garment] Christ.
i.
(Eph
5:26) That he might sanctify
and cleanse it [the church, you] with the washing of
water [symbol
of the Holy Spirit] by the word [Gk: rhema;
(revelations)],
Amen
