ANSWERS TO THREE QUESTIONS ALL DISCIPLES WANT TO KNOW

(Matt 24:1-3) And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple [“ye are the temple of God” 1 Cor 3:16]: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple. And Jesus said unto them, See [Gk: perceive] ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone [symbolically, one hard-hearted person] upon another, that shall not be thrown down [Gk: demolished: destroyed, dissolved, come to nought]. (Matt 24:3) And as he sat upon [reigning upon (weighty) the throne of] the mount of Olives [a universal symbol of all believers being crushed to release the oil of their Holy Spirit], the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be [Answer: now, ascending into the future (Matt 24:4-14)]? and what shall be the sign [Gk: indication: miracle, wonder] of thy [(second)] coming [Answer: the abomination of desolation (Matt 24:15-20)], and of the end [Gk: the entire completion, consummation] of the world [Gk: aion; this age] [the end of this dispensation] [Answer: great tribulation (Matt 24:21-28) & the fourth seal (Rev 6:7,8)]?

1.    (Matt 7:7) Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

COMMENTARY ON THE PAST 03-07-21 MESSAGE “PART 1”

Last week we examined the verses of Matthew 24:1-14 entitled “part 1” of the Olivet prophecy that Jesus Christ delivered to His disciples in response to their earnest request (search, quest) for understanding.  Matthew 24:1-3 commences with the questions of the disciples. Matthew 24:4-7 is the answer of Jesus to those questions in a symbolic format that describes “the tribulation” that we have been in and are now experiencing (enduring). Furthermore, those answers parallel the higher symbolic format of the first three seals of Revelations 6:1-6. Jesus then delivered a summation of Matthew 24:1-7 by stating in Matthew 24:8 “All these are the beginning of sorrows.Thereafter in the text, Jesus delivered Matthew 24:9-14 which expounds upon the symbolism of the latter verses of Matthew 24:1-8 in an understandable non-symbolic very personal manner. Thus, Jesus fully answered (both symbolically and plainly) the first question of the disciples which was “when shall these things be,” and His answer to all His disciples past, present, and future was now, and in the foreseeable future…, then Jesus answered the second question of “what shall be the sign of thy [as yet unarrived but in the process of] coming,”?

THE WARNING SIGN

of the abomination of desolation for the second coming of Jesus Christ and our purification

(Matt 24:15-20) [FIRST PLAINLY:] When ye therefore shall see [Gk: perceive, understand] [i.e., (experience) the “sign” of] the abomination [1] of desolation [2,3] [THE ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION], spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand [i.e., a person (ruler, leader)] in the holy place [in the position of our “High Priest… Jesus Christ” (Heb 3:1), i.e., the most powerful, dominating authority in the world] [4], (whoso readeth, let him understand:) Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! But pray ye [said to the disciples thereby clearly indicating that we who are Christians are then still here] that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:

1.    abomination = Gk: detestation, (specif. idolatry) /// (to stink); be disgusted, detest: abhor.

2.    desolation = Gk: laid waste: (bring to, make) desolate (-ion), come to nought.

3.    desolation = Dict: 1. a making desolate; laying waste. 2. a desolate condition; ruin, waste. 3. lonely grief; misery. 4. loneliness. 5. a desolate place.

a.     desolate = Dict: 1. to make desolate; rid of inhabitants. 2. to make unihabitable; lay waste; devastate. 3. to forsake; abandon. 4. to make forlon, wretched, etc.

4.    (Rev 13:1,2) [THEN SYMBOLICALLY:] And I [John] stood upon the sand of the sea [symbol of humanity, i.e., separated from the sea], and saw a beast [Gk: therion; a dangerous animal: (venomous, wild) beast] [the abomination of desolation] [a] rise up [literally, like a sign] out of the sea [symbol of (unsaved) humanity], having seven heads [possibly: advisors, managers, supervisors, “handlers”] and ten horns [Gk: hair] [possibly: large, powerful, influential financial tyrants], and upon his horns ten crowns [possibly: captains of industry] [the heads, then horns, then crowns are altogether an ascending hierarchy of great authority (and pride)], and upon his heads [(thoughts)] the name of blasphemy. And the beast [Gk: therion; a dangerous animal: (venomous, wild) beast] which I saw was like unto a leopard [swiftness (death); perhaps sudden activity], and his feet were as the feet of a bear [weighty crushing (death); perhaps peer pressure], and his mouth as the mouth of a lion [loud roaring (death); perhaps fake lying media] [i.e., these are three deadly animals in one “corporate” beast]: and the dragon [Satan (another animal) “the god of this world” 2 Cor 4:4] gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority [Gk: privilege; force, capacity, mastery, token of control, influence: jurisdiction, power, strength].

a.     (Eccl 3:18) I said in mine heart concerning the estate [condition] of the sons of men, that God might manifest them [make apparent to them], and that they might see that they themselves are beasts.

ACTIVATION

The abomination of desolation generates the Great Tribulation wherein the first three seals of

Rev 6:1-6 (strong delusion, war, famine and pestilence) are swiftly and greatly intensifying.

(Matt 24:21-28) For then shall be great [1] tribulation [2] [GREAT TRIBULATION], such as was not since the beginning of the world [Gk: kosmos, “cosmos” (universe)] to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved [3]: but for the elect's [Gk: selected: chosen] sake [clearly indicating that we who are Christians are still here] those days shall be shortened. Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect [but it is not possible, because God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit live (dwell) inside us] [4]. Behold, I have told you before [it happens]. Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not. For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west [i.e., instantaneously]; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For wheresoever the carcase [Gk: lifeless body, corpse: dead body] is, there will the eagles [5] be gathered together [be raptured?].

1.    great= Gk: big: (+fear) exceedingly, high, large, loud, mighty, + (be) sore (afraid), strong.

2.    tribulation = Gk: pressure [peer pressure, social pressure]: affliction: anguish, burden, persecution, trouble.

3.    saved = Gk: “safe”; delivered: healed, preserved, be (made) whole.

4.    (Luke 17:20,21) And when he [Jesus] was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation [Gk: ocular evidence]: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within [Gk: inside] you.

5.    (Isa 40:31) But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

a.     (Exo 19:4) Ye have seen what I [God] did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles' wings [i.e., the Word of God, the open Bible], and brought you unto myself.

(Dan 12:10,11) Many shall be purified, and made white [innocent], and tried [Heb: refined: melted, purged]; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand. And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.

Amen

Ps. Next week, God willing, we shall examine the answer to the third question: “and the end of the world?
