(Mark 4:1,2) And he began again to teach by the sea side: and there was gathered unto him a great multitude, so that he entered into a ship, and sat in the sea [water is a biblical symbol of the Holy Spirit]; and the whole multitude was by the sea on the land [i.e. no Holy Spirit, dry land]. And he taught them [a method of sowing seed] many things by parables, and said unto them in his doctrine [instruction], 1. parable = Gk: a similitude ("parable"), i.e. a symbolic fictitious narrative of common life conveying a moral, apothegm or adage:--comparison, figure, parable, proverb /// to throw alongside, or (fig.) to liken:--comparison. 2. Commentary: Jesus conveyed (transferred) His doctrine to the people and His disciples by using a series of words formed into a sentence which entered in (spirits enter in: Mark 4:19) through the hearer’s ear gate and into his brain (heart). An analogy of a sentence is like a moving train consisting of attached boxcars (words), wherein each individual boxcar (word - logos) contains a meaning (rhema). A word is merely a structure (a carrier), in this case a boxcar, which contains “meaning.” String the boxcars together into a sentence and you have a train. A word (boxcar) is also the “logos” seed, whereas the contents-meaning of that word, what comes out of that word, is the “rhema” fruit. Words contain thoughts. (Mark 4:3-9) Hearken [hear]; Behold [see], there went out a sower to sow: And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air [a reference to demons, unclean spirits, devils, also most correctly known as fallen angels] came and devoured it up. And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth [personified by “Shallow Hal”]: But when the sun was up, it was scorched [burned: “For our God is a consuming fire.” Heb 12:29]; and because it had no root [i.e. Jesus Christ: “the Root of David” Rev 5:5; “I am the root and offspring of David” Rev 22:16], it withered away [to desiccate; shriveled: dried up (through lack of moisture: the Holy Spirit)]. And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it [suffocated the word (overcame)], and it yielded no fruit. And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred. And he said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. 1. (Dan 7:21,22) I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed [overcame] against them; Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom. 2. (Dan 8:24) And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practice, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people. 3. (Rev 13:7) And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. (Mark 4:10-12) And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parable. And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without [outside], all these things are done in parables: That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted [to revert, turn (about, again)], and their sins should be forgiven them [what does the forgiveness of our sins indicate?]. 1. (John 3:3) Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see [perceive, understand] the kingdom of God. 2. An unpopular Commentary: Good (Holy) thoughts are the Holy angels (messengers/messages) of God dwelling inside us. Bad (evil) thoughts are the evil demons, unclean spirits, devils, fallen angels (messengers/messages) of Satan dwelling inside us. Thus, spiritual warfare is continually waged within a saved saint, until his ultimate purification. Praise God. Thank you Lord.
