THE VISIBLE GLORY (THE ANOINTING) OF MY TWO WITNESSES
02-10-13
(Rev 11:1,2) And there was given me [John]
a reed [this dispensation of forgiveness: Mark 16:15,16]
like unto [as a type and shadow of] a rod [the coming
dispensation of judgment: Rev 2:27]: and the angel stood, saying,
Rise, and measure [Gk: measure (i.e. ascertain in
size by a fixed standard)] [in this application, esteem for good] the
temple of God, and the altar [the golden altar of incense
(symbolizing prayer, praise and worship)], and them [the
saved] that worship therein [dwelling inside the
temple] [all the latter encompasses “the first resurrection” Rev 20:5,6].
But the court [Gk: yard] which is without
[Gk: outside] the temple [where the unsaved dwell]
leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the
Gentiles [the unaved unregenerated peoples of the world]:
and the holy city [Jerusalem (fig. the courtyard which surrounds
the temple/tabernacle)] shall they tread under foot forty and two
months [3 ½ years].
(Rev 11:3-6) And I will give power unto
my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy [Gk: to
foretell events, divine, speak under inspiration] a thousand two
hundred and threescore days [3 ½ years (but less)], clothed in
sackcloth [symbolic here of self-abasement (lowering, humilation,
i.e., pridelessness) and mourning]. These are the two
olive trees [Zech 4:3], and the two candlesticks standing
before the God of the earth [Zech 4:14]. And if any man
will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth
their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be
killed. These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not
[“by the space of three years and six months” James 5:17 & 1 Kings 17:1]
in the days of their prophecy [Elijah = representing those alive in
Christ]: and have power over waters to turn them to blood
[Moses = representing those dead in Christ: Exo 7:20], and to
smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.
1.
witnesses = Gk: a witness (lit. [judicially] or fig. [gen.]); by
anal. a "martyr":--martyr, record.
2.
sackcloth = Gk: worn as a sign of grief /// a mesh (as allowing a
liquid to run through), i.e. coarse loose cloth or sacking (used in mourning
and for bagging); hence a bag (for grain, etc.):--sackclothes.
3.
(Jer 23:29) Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD;
and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?
(Mat 17:1-3) And after six days [perhaps
prophetically indicating six thousand years?] Jesus taketh Peter, James,
and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,
And was transfigured before them [Gk: metamorphoo;
("metamorphose"): changed, transfigured, transformed]: and his
face did shine as the sun [manifesting the
glory of God; that which we are becoming: Exo 34:29-35], and his raiment
[Gk: clothing] was white as the light [perfect purity].
And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elijah
talking with him.
1.
(Luke 9:30,31) And, behold, there talked with him two men, which
were Moses and Elijah: Who appeared in glory, and spake
of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem.
2.
(Exo 34:29-35) And it came to pass, when Moses [the
prophet] came down from mount Sinai with the two tables of testimony
in Moses' hand, when he came down from the mount, that Moses wist
[Heb: understood, knew] not that the skin of his face shone
[Heb: to shoot out horns; fig. rays:--have horns, shined]
[“sent forth beams” Amplif.] while he talked with him [with
the LORD, Jehovah]. And when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw
Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone; and they
were afraid to come nigh him. And Moses called unto them; and
Aaron and all the rulers of the congregation returned unto him:
and Moses talked with them. And afterward all the children of Israel
came nigh: and he gave them in commandment all that the LORD had spoken with
him in mount Sinai. And till [“when” NKJV, NIV] Moses had
done speaking with them, he put a veil on his face [to
protect non-believers from the anointing, from the visible glory of the
LORD]. But when Moses went in before the LORD to speak with him, he
took the veil off, until he came out. And he came out, and spake
unto the children of Israel [with face that shone] that which he was
commanded. And the children of Israel saw the face of Moses, that
the skin of Moses' face shone [3x]: and Moses
put the veil upon his face again, until he went in to speak with him
[with the LORD, Jehovah].
3.
(Rom 12:2) And be not conformed [Gk: be fashioned alike,
i.e. conform to the same pattern] to this world: but be ye
transformed [Gk: metamorphoo; ("metamorphose"): changed,
transfigured, transformed] by the renewing [Gk: renovation ///
restoration] of your mind [i.e., your spirit, that
invisible part of you], that ye may prove what is that good
[30 fold], and acceptable [60 fold], and
perfect [100 fold], will of God.
a.
mind = Gk: the intellect, i.e. mind (divine or human; in thought,
feeling, or will); by impl. meaning:--mind, understanding.
(1 Th 4:13-18) But I would not have you to be
ignorant [Gk: not to know through lack of information],
brethren, concerning them which are asleep [Gk: dead],
that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we
believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which
sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the
word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the
[second] coming of the Lord shall not prevent [Gk: precede]
them which are asleep [Gk: dead]. For the Lord himself shall
descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and
with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ [the Moses
company] shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain
[the Elijah company] shall be caught up [Gk: to
take for oneself, i.e. to prefer:--chosen] together with them
in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the
Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
Amen
