THE REVELATION OF CHRIST’S APPEARANCE

01-06-13

(Mat 24:29) [THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE SIXTH SEAL] Immediately after [i.e., the conclusion of] the [great] tribulation [the fifth seal: Rev 6:9-11; 7:9-17] of those days shall the sun be darkened [Gk: obscured in darkness], and the moon shall not give her [reflected] light [note also the female gender; she will be clothed in darkness, a probable allusion to Islam], and the stars shall fall from heaven [dennoting the fall from rule and power of the previously mighty unto eternal separation from God (love), and eternal solitary death; the fall from Light into Darkness], and the powers of the heavens [(plural): both angelic and human powers] shall be shaken:

1.      shaken = Gk: to waver, i.e. agitate, rock, topple or (by impl.) be destroyed: move, stir up.

2.      (Heb 12:26-29)  Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he [Father God] hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake [as in the chaff from the seed] not the earth only, but also heaven. And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made [an allusion to physical], that those things which cannot be shaken may remain [an allusion to spiritual]. Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: For our God is a consuming fire.

(Mat 24:30)  [THE SIXTH SEAL: THE COMING…] And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the [unsaved] tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

(Rev 1:7,8)  Behold, he cometh with clouds [the opening of the sixth seal: Rev 6:12-17; 7:1-8; 19:11-16; 20:1-6; this is the revelation of His appearance]; and every eye [every living eye, “the quick” 2 Tim 4:1] shall see him, and they also which pierced him [“and the dead” 2 Tim 4:1]: and all [the remaining unsaved] kindreds [Gk: races: tribes] of the earth shall wail [Gk: beat the breast in grief: lament, mourn] because of him. Even so, Amen. I am Alpha and Omega [the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet], the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

1.      (2 Tim 4:1-5)  I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom [i.e., His appearance brings in His kingdom]; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables [Gk: “myth”; tales, fiction]. But watch thou [Gk: abstain from wine, be sober] in all things, endure afflictions [Gk: hardships: sufferings], do the work [Gk: toil: deeds, labor] of an evangelist [Gk: a preacher of the gospel], make full proof [extreme emphasis] of thy ministry [Gk: office, service].

a.      make full proof” = plerophoreo plerophoreo plerophoreo; to carry out fully (in evidence), i.e. completely assure (or convince), entirely accomplish:--most surely believe, fully know (persuade), make full proof of.

b.      (Luke 2:7-11)  And she [Mary] brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. And there were in the same country shepherds [Gk: pastors] abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them [extreme emphasis]: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

c.      shone round about” = Gk: perilampo perilampo perilampo; to illuminate all around, i.e. invest with a halo:--shine round about.

(Rev 1:9-11)  I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation [for the past 2,000 years], and in the kingdom [of God] and patience [the needful endurance of Christians in suffering] of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos [a rocky island in the Aegean Sea which served as a “jail” where the Romans banished criminals, located about 50 miles southwest of the coast of western Turkey], for [the punishment for John’s preaching and teaching] the word of God [the logos], and for the testimony of Jesus Christ [the rhema]. I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day [Sunday], and heard behind me [figuratively, the Old Testament] a great voice, as of a trumpet, Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.

1.      Commentary: The logos word and the rhema word together are two manifestations (edges) of the “sharp twoedged sword” (Rev 1:16) of the Lord, i.e., revealed as His tongue (Rev 1:16; 19:15); and wholly, the rhema fruit that comes out of His logos seed body (Luke 8:11; John 1:14). Logos word and rhema word are sharp blades that allude, respectively, to the physical and to the spiritual, both cut-away (separate) the dross, the waste matter, the refuse, the false doctrines, etc., from the good fruit. “Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.” (John 15:8).

2.      Commentary: The sharp twoedged sword of the Lord is visibly “a cross” when viewed verticle. Thus, when a similitude of a wooden cross it pierces the ground of the heart (Mat 13:19) with forgiveness and corrective judgment, as in this dispensation, and when a similitude of an iron sword it represents the final judgment alone, as in the coming end-time dispensation that is virtually upon us, “at the door” really.

a.      (Rev 3:20)  Behold, I stand at the door [of your heart], and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Amen
