The depth of our revelations depends upon the correctness of our doctrines.

SYNOPSIS OF MATTHEW 25:1-46

(Mat 25:1-13) The parable of The Ten Virgins

1.       The personal preparation of the bride in anticipation of the Bridegroom coming.

(Mat 25:14-30) The parable of The Talents

1.       Faithful obedient service to the Kingdom while the Bridegroom tarries.

(Mat 25:31-46) The parable of The Judgment of the Nations

1.       Judgment of the lives of the sheep and of the goats when the Bridegroom returns.

THE KING IS COMING TO OCCUPY THE THRONE OF HIS GLORY

WE ARE THE THRONE OF HIS GLORY

(Mat 25:31)  When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

  1. (Isa 40:5)  And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
  2. (Rom 8:18)  For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
  3. (1 Pet 4:13)  But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
  4. (1 Pet 5:1)  The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker [Gk: to share with others /// partner] of the glory that shall be revealed:
  5. (1Co 3:16)  Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
  6. (Mat 24:14-16)  And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand [he/she cannot sit in triumph for there is no furniture ordained by God to sit upon] in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
    1. abomination = Gk: a detestation, (specifically) idolatry /// (to stink); to be disgusted, (by implication) detest (especially of idolatry): - abhor, abominable.
    2. desolation = Gk: (to stink); to be disgusted, (by implication) detest (especially of idolatry): - abhor, abominable.
    3. narcissism = Dict: self love; erotic gratification derived from admiration of one’s own physical or mental attributes: a normal condition at the infantile level of personality development.
  7. Commentary: You are the Tabernacle/Temple of God. Inside the Temple of God, as pictured in type and shadow in the Tabernacle of Moses, is “the holy place” and the Throne of God. The throne of God is composed of the ark of testimony, made of shittim wood (a biblical symbol of men), covered by the mercy seat (made of pure gold, a symbol of the Holy Spirit), above which God dwells.
  8. (Exo 25:21,22)  And thou shalt put the mercy seat [Heb: a lid (used only of the cover of the sacred Ark)] above upon the ark [“of shittim wood” Exo 25:10]; and in the ark [Heb: (treasure) chest, coffin] thou shalt put the testimony [God’s testimony began with the two tablets of stone, the Law, but ultimately, God’s testimony became and is the Bible that He commands be in you – as it was in type in the ark] that I shall give thee. And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims [angels] which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel.

(Mat 25:32,33)  And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them [a continuous separation that began when God “divided the light from the darkness” Gen 1:4] one from another, as a shepherd [Gk: pastor] divideth his sheep [obedience] from the goats [rebellion]: And he shall set the sheep on his right hand [the most commonly used most useful hand], but the goats on the left [the least useful hand, “left behind”].

  1. Commentary: Sheep and goats traveled mixed (mingled) in the same flock. Interestingly, looking through their eyes, many of the sheep looked about and thought they themselves were goats, and many of the goats looked about and thought they themselves were sheep. However, in the end we shall be eternally separated into whichever group we belong. Spiritually separated as well as physically separated by the Righteous Judge (Jesus Christ, 2 Tim 4:8), who is the will and wall of our separation.
  2. (2 Tim 4:8)  Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

PREPARED: THE FATE OF THE SHEEP

(Mat 25:34-36)  Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand [the sheep], Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world [Gk: kosmos “cosmos” (universe)]: For I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat [Gk: food]: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

  1. (John 14:2)  In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
  2. (Eph 1:4)  According as he hath chosen us [“Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you” John 15:16] in him before the foundation of the world [Gk: kosmos “cosmos” (universe)], that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

(Mat 25:37-40)  Then shall the righteous [“his sheep”] answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungered, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily [Gk: truth] I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

  1. least = Gk: least (in size, amount, dignity, etc.): - least, very little (small), smallest.

PREPARED: THE FATE OF THE GOATS

(Mat 25:41-43)  Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand [“the goats”], Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: For I was an hungered, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

  1. (Rev 19:20)  And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
  2. (Rev 20:10-15)  And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

(Mat 25:44-46)  Then shall they [“the goats”] also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungered, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

Amen
