THE SUN, THE MOON, THE STARS,
AND A GREAT EARTHQUAKE (COMMOTION)
(Mat 24:29) Immediately after the tribulation [after the Fifth Seal of Great Tribulation: Rev 6:9-11; 7:13-17] of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
1. (Rev 6:12,13) And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake ["the heavens shall be shaken"]; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair ["be darkened"], and the moon became blood ["shall not give her light"]; And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth ["shall fall from heaven"], even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.
2. (Ezek 32:6,7) I will also water with thy blood the land [the land of Egypt, the land of the unsaved from which the Lord has delivered us "on eagle’s wings" Exo 19:4] wherein thou swimmest, even to the mountains; and the rivers shall be full of thee. And when I shall put thee out, I will cover the heaven, and make the stars thereof dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give her light.
THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST AS THE RAPTURE EXPERIENCE FOR US
(Mat 24:30,31) And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn [Gk: to beat the breast in grief: wail], and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
(Joel 2:1) Blow ye the trumpet in Zion ["the trump of God" 1 Thes 4:16], and sound an alarm [Heb: for alarm or joy] in my holy mountain [i.e., in my people who are exalted higher than the land]: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh ["one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day." 2 Pet 3:8; this is the beginning of the 1,000 year Millennium], for it is nigh at hand;
(Joel 2:2) [For the unsaved it shall be] A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, [and for the saved it shall be] as the morning [Heb: dawn] [sunrise] spread upon the mountains [i.e., the exalted higher people]: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations [i.e., until the conclusion of the 1,000 year Millennium].
(Joel 2:3-9) A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall escape them. The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses [muscular animals]; and as horsemen, so shall they run. Like the noise of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble ["gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble" 1 Cor 3:12], as a strong people set in battle array. Before their face the people shall be much pained: all faces shall gather blackness. They shall run like mighty men; they shall climb the wall like men of war; and they shall march every one on his ways, and they shall not break their ranks: Neither shall one thrust another; they shall walk every one in his path: and when they fall upon the sword, they shall not be wounded. They shall run to and fro in the city; they shall run upon the wall, they shall climb up upon the houses; they shall enter in at the windows like a thief.
(Joel 2:10,11) The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble [Heb: quake, shake]: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining: And the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the LORD is great [for us – the saved] and very terrible [for them – the unsaved]; and who can abide it?
(Isa 13:9-11) Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it. For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine. And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.
(Luk 21:25-28) And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud [of us] with power and great glory. And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
(Ecc 12:1-5,13,14) Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them; While the sun, or the light, or the moon, or the stars, be not darkened, nor the clouds return after the rain: In the day when the keepers of the house shall tremble [quake], and the strong men shall bow themselves, and the grinders cease because they are few, and those that look out of the windows be darkened, And the doors shall be shut in the streets, when the sound of the grinding is low, and he shall rise up at the voice of the bird, and all the daughters of musick shall be brought low; Also when they shall be afraid of that which is high, and fears shall be in the way, and the almond tree shall flourish [Aaron’s rod that budded, symbol of miracles, the Holy Spirit; symbol of glorified us], and the grasshopper shall be a burden, and desire shall fail: because man goeth to his long home, and the mourners go about the streets: (Ecc 12:13,14) Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
THE SIXTH SEAL
(Rev 6:12-17) And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake [Gk: commotion]; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs ["Now learn a parable of the fig tree" Mat 24:32-35], when she is shaken of a mighty wind. And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand ["for the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; and who can abide it"? Joel 2:11]?
THE SEALING OF THE SERVANTS OF GOD,
THE RAPTURE
rapture = Dict: 1. ecstatic joy or delight. 2. the carrying of a person to another place or sphere of existence.
(Rev 7:1-3) And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.
Amen
