4) (Gen 18:1,2) And
the LORD [Jehovah] appeared [discern]
unto him [Abraham] in the plains of Mamre:
and he sat in the tent door in the heat
of the day; And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three
men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran [rush:
speedily] to meet them from the tent
door, and bowed himself [do
(make) obeisance, do reverence, make to stoop, worship] toward the ground, 1.
Mamre = Heb: (in the sense of vigor); lusty; an Amorite
(descendant of Canaan - "lived in the wilderness regions of what
today is western Saudi Arabia and southern Syria... migrated
eastward to Babylon (Iraq) in large numbers... settled in the land of Palestine."
Kings Sihon and Og) /// to rebel; hence (through the idea of maltreating) to
whip, i.e. lash (self with wings, as the ostrich in running):--be filthy, lift
up self. 2.
(Eph 5:15,16) See then that
ye walk circumspectly [exactly:
diligently, perfectly], not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming
[to rescue from loss] the time, because the
days are evil. 3.
(Eph 6:13) Wherefore take
unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. (Amos 3:7) Surely
the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth
his secret unto his servants [bondmen]
the prophets [inspired men /// to
prophesy, i.e. speak (or sing) by inspiration (in prediction or simple
discourse)]. [John 3:27]. (1 Pet 4:17) For
the time is come that judgment
must begin at the house of God :
and if it first begin at us [i.e. be revealed
to us], what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of
God? THE JUDGMENT THAT GOD REVEALED FIRST TO ABRAHAM (Gen 18:20-26) And
the LORD [Jehovah] said
[to Abraham], Because the cry [shriek]
of Sodom [doctrine
Rev 17] and Gomorrah [works Rev 18] is
great, and because their sin [offence]
is very grievous; I will go down [descend; 1 Th 4:16] now, and see whether they have done altogether
according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know. And
the men turned their faces from thence [from Abraham], and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before
the LORD. And Abraham drew near [How?], and said, Wilt thou also destroy [consume]
the righteous with the wicked? Peradventure there be fifty
righteous within the city: wilt thou also destroy and not spare the place
for the fifty righteous that are therein? That be far from thee to do after this
manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous
should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the
Judge of all the earth do right? And the LORD said, If I find in
Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place
for their sakes [Abraham pleaded 50, 45,
40, 30, 20, and 10]. (Gen 18:33) And
the LORD went his way, as soon as he had left communing with
Abraham: and Abraham returned unto his place. 1.
CULLED FROM DELIVERED MANUSCRIPT: (Ezek 16:49,50)
Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride
[arrogancy, majesty, pomp,
proud, swelling], fulness of
bread, and abundance of idleness
[i.e. prosperity] was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen
the hand of the poor and needy.
And they were haughty [to
soar, be lofty: exalt, be (make) higher, lifted up, be proud, raise up great
height], and committed abomination [something
disgusting] before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good. 2.
CULLED FROM DELIVERED MANUSCRIPT: iniquity = Heb: perversity, i.e. moral evil: fault,
iniquity, mischief, sin /// to crook: do amiss,
bow down, make crooked, pervert, do perversely, trouble, X turn, do
wickedly, do wrong. 3.
James 5:16c) The effectual
fervent [active: powerful] prayer
[petition] of a righteous man
availeth much [has much force, power,
strength]. ["Pray without
ceasing." 1 Th 5:17 & Luke 18:1; Eph 6:18].
(Gen 19:1) And
there came two angels
to Sodom at even ['arab;
to grow dusky: be darkened]; and Lot
sat in the gate of
Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed
himself [do (make) obeisance, do
reverence, make to stoop, worship] with his face toward the ground; 1.
Lot's vision-perception-discernment of spiritual things is more
obscured than Abraham's, i.e. Lot sees less clearly, and therefore any
communication from God must be more explicit with Lot, i.e. less abstract
spiritual and tending more toward the concrete physical. (abstract =
Dict: conceived apart from matter). From the light of day to the darkness of
night. 2.
Six comparisons: the tent vs. Sodom; door vs. gate; three men vs.
two angels; he ran to meet them vs. rose up; And the LORD [Jehovah]
appeared unto him vs. "nothing;" his face vs.
"nothing." (Gen 19:2,3) And
he [Lot] said, Behold now, my lords,
turn in, I pray you, into your servant's house, and tarry all night, and
wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your ways. And they said,
Nay; but we will abide in the street all night. And he pressed upon
them greatly [vehemently,
exceedingly] [How?]; and they
turned in unto him, and entered into his house; and he made them a
feast, and did bake unleavened bread
[sweet (i.e. not soured or bittered with yeast)], and they did
eat [i.e. accepted the sacrifice].
[Whose house had Lot's house become?] 1.
(Gen 18:6) And Abraham
hastened [to be liquid or flow easily] into
the tent unto Sarah, and said, Make ready quickly three measures of fine meal,
knead it, and make cakes upon the hearth. [Mat
13:33]. "THIS NIGHT," i.e. great darkness prevails. (Great Tribulation
- the 5th seal) (Gen 19:4-9) But
before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed [surrounded] the house
round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter: And they
called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to
thee this night [a
twist (away of the light); fig. adversity]? bring them out unto us, that we
may know them [understand them
intimately (concrete physically - sexually)]. And Lot went out at the door
unto them, and shut the door
after him
["to dress it (serve) and to keep it (guard, protect, defend)" Gen
2:15], And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly [the
cross depicted]. Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known
man [virgins]; let me, I pray you,
bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes [the
sacrifice of love - Jesus Christ]: only unto these men do nothing; for
therefore came they under the shadow [defence]
of my roof [covering]. And they said, Stand back [at a distance]. And they said again, This one fellow [Lot]
came in to sojourn [lodge with us],
and he will needs be a judge [govern: rule]: now will we deal worse with thee
[to spoil (lit. by breaking to pieces)], than with them. And
they pressed [pressure, i.e. tribulation] sore
[vehemently: exceedingly, greatly] upon
the man, even Lot [a veil: covering],
and came near to break the door. THE SEALING (RAPTURE) OF THE SAINTS (The 6th seal) (Gen 19:10-14) But
the men [angels] put
forth [stretched forth] their hand,
and pulled Lot into the house
to them [into
great light], and shut to the door
["and the LORD shut him [Noah] in" Gen 7:16]. And they smote the
men that were at the door of the house with blindness [i.e. great
darkness], both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to
find the door. And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides
[thy wife and two daughters]? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters,
and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring
them out of this place: For we
will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen
great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD hath sent us to destroy
it. And Lot went out, and spake unto his
sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out
of this place; for the LORD will destroy this city. But he seemed as one
that mocked [to sport: laugh, play]
unto his sons in law. 1.
(Mat 14:30,31) But when he [Peter]
saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning
to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. And
immediately Jesus stretched forth his
hand, and caught him, and
said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? 2.
(1 Th 4:17) Then we which
are alive and remain shall be caught
up [to seize: catch (away, up),
pluck, pull, take (by force)]
together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we
ever be with the Lord. 3.
(Luke 13:25) When once the
master of the house is risen up, and hath shut
to the door, and ye begin to stand without [outside],
and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he
shall answer and say unto you, I know you
not whence [who or what] ye are: 4.
(Rev 18:4) And I heard
another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be
not partakers [do not share] of her sins, and that ye receive
not of her plagues
[judgments].
(Gen 19:26) But
his wife looked back [look
intently at, regard with pleasure] from behind him, and she became a
pillar [statue (monument)] of
salt. (2 Pet 2:18-22)
For when they speak great swelling words of vanity [false prophets, false teachers], they allure [entrap, beguile] through the lusts
of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error
[(great) delusion]. While they promise them liberty
[freedom], they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of
whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. For
if after they have escaped the
pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus
Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is
worse with them than the beginning. For it had been better for them not
to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn [revert: return] from
the holy commandment delivered unto them. But it is happened unto them according
to the true proverb, The dog is
turned [revert: return] to his own vomit again; and the
sow that was washed [bathed]
to her wallowing in the mire [again]. THE MORNING: THE WRATH OF GOD (The 7th seal) (Gen 19:15) And
when the morning arose [dawn:
day (-spring), light - a new day], then the angels hastened Lot, saying,
Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest
thou be consumed in the iniquity
of the city. Amen |
