SAUL’S ARMOR WAS VISIBLE (PHYSICAL)

(Eph 6:10-18) Finally,
my brethren, be strong [empowered: enabled, (increased in) strength)]
in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on [i.e. volition]
the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against
the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against
principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this
world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the
whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil
day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your
loins girt about with truth [1], and having on the breastplate of righteousness
[2]; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel
of peace [3]; Above all, taking the shield of faith [4],
wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take
the helmet of salvation [5], and the sword [an
instrument of separation (division)] of the Spirit [6], which is
the word [rhema (revelation)] of God: Praying always
with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all
perseverance and supplication for all saints;
(1 Sam 17:4-7) And
there went out a champion [representative] out of the camp
of the Philistines, named Goliath [exile /// to denude (espec.
in a disgraceful sense): uncover], of Gath [wine-press], whose
height was six cubits and a span. And he had an helmet
of brass [1] upon his head, and he was armed with a coat of mail
[2]; and the weight of the coat was five thousand shekels of brass [filthiness
(false doctrine, the traditions of men = sin)]. And he had greaves of
brass [3] upon his legs, and a target [4] of brass between his
shoulders. And the staff of his spear [5] [an instrument of
penetration] was like a weaver's beam; and his spear's head weighed six
hundred shekels of iron: and one bearing a shield [6] went
before him.
(Rev 13:18) Here
is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast
[a
dangerous animal: (venomous, wild) beast]: for it is the number of a man
[the men of Israel referred to Goliath as a “man”: 1 Sam 17:24&25];
and his number is Six hundred threescore and six [666].
(Gen 1:1-6) In
the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without
form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of
God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and
there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided
[badal, baw-dal'] the light from the darkness. And God called the light
Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the
first day. And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters,
and let it divide the waters from the waters. [badal, baw-dal':
Gen 1:7,14,18]
1.
divided = Heb: to divide (in var. senses lit. or fig., separate,
distinguish, differ, select, etc.): (make, put) difference, divide (asunder),
(make) separate (self, -ation), sever (out), X utterly.
2.
(Luke 12:51) Suppose ye that
I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:
3.
(John 1:14) And the Word [i.e.
the Bible] was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld
his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and
truth.
4.
The Word is not only Jesus Christ, but the Word is a twoedged sword (Heb
4:12; Eph 6:17), and He is alive inside the sheath of our bodies.
5.
(John 7:43) So there was a
division among the people because of him.
6.
(John 9:16) Therefore said
some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the
sabbath day. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And
there was a division among them.
7. (John 10:19) There was a division therefore again among the Jews for these sayings [of Jesus].
2.
choke = Gk: to strangle completely, i.e. (lit.) to drown, or (fig.) to
crowd: choke, throng /// denoting union [i.e. mingling, vs.
separation or division] & /// to wheeze, i.e. to throttle or strangle
(drown): choke, take by the throat.
Whose armor (doctrine) will you accept, the brass
armor of Saul who is the head and voice of the apostate church, or the invisible
armor of David? Whoever you are listening to and obeying is
your covering. If you are listening to and obeying Jesus Christ,
then you are covered by His white robe of righteousness. If you are listening to
and obeying Saul, then you are covered by his brass (filthiness).
