And he divided unto them his living. And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine [pigs]. And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks [empty seed pods] that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him. 1. (Amos 8:11,12) Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it. 2. Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. IN A MOMENT OF SANITY, WILD MAN RESOLVES TO COME OUT OF “WILDERNESS WORLD” (Luke 15:17-19) And when he came to himself [i.e. to his “right mind,” to his “sound mind”], he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants. 1. (Mark 5:15) And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind [to be of sound mind, i.e. sane, (fig.) moderate: be sober (minded), soberly]: and they were afraid. 2. (2 Tim 1:7) For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind [discipline, i.e. self-control /// (fig.) to discipline or correct: teach to be sober]. 3. Life Application Bible; The Living Bible: Some people need to hit bottom in order to come to their senses. Don’t take leave of your senses – stop and look before you hit bottom, and save yourself and your family much grief. WILD MAN DOES INDEED COME OUT OF “WILDERNESS WORLD” AND BECOMES TAME THROUGH CONFESSION (ACKNOWLEDGEMENT) OF HIS SINS, AND RECEIVING HIS FATHER’S FORGIVENESS (Luke 15:20-24) And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son. But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet: And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry: For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry [rejoice: be glad]. 1. (Psa 44:21) Shall not God search this out? for he knoweth the secrets of the heart. 2. Commentary: Are you a “wild” man or a “tame” man? Where will you go when you die? Wild men go with other evil men and women to Hell to be under the hateful rule of Satan and his fallen angels (demons); tame men go with other righteous men and women to Heaven to be under the loving rule of God and his holy angels. Where do you want to go? Are you an “unredeemed person” symbolized by a pig in the Bible wasting your “substance with riotous living”? Hint: how do you act? If you act like a pig, then you are a pig. Or, are you a “redeemed” child of God? Would you like to become a “redeemed” child of God?
